I'm a bit confused. I thought you said Dortmund are sitting lame duck here. That they don't have any power and will have to deal with whichever club Haaland picks as his destination. What exactly changed that that now they will deal with City only "when they can see what other clubs can propose as an alternative".

This is also confusing to me. I thought Alfie was the main guy and Mino was just a facilitator. People specifically said that both father and son would decide a club first for footballing reasons and then negotiate personal terms with that club. Now it seems like they have a done a 180 and are willing to clown around because Mino wants to get paid twice. Is the implication that Haaland doesn't have a preference and is willing to compromise on his own career as long Mino gets a fat paycheck?

No, my point still stands, the player holds the power as to his next destination.

It's far too early in the game for exerting that power, certainly when Mino can get paid for the facade of representing both sides of the deal.

Dortmund can bluff for a while yet that he is not for sale, yet instruct Mino to present multiple offers for their perusal. I know that sounds skewed but it happens all the time.
