Nothing has changed and City are still after a traditional 9. Looks like Pep's comments yesterday have had the desired effect in the football media right across Europe though which isn't a bad thing.

Ahh, the old Sancho 'story' when someone has no facts to back their narrative up....
Maybe we've learnt our lesson with Sancho and we're more inclined to keep Delap happy.
It is a Great thing!
Best to be tough in negotiations from the start. There is no reasonable explanation for Dortmund to skin us for 150 mil + 40 mil in agent fees when he has a release clause of half that value the season after while we are breezing the league and favourites for all 4 trophies. We are not desperate at all and can easily manage a season with Jesus, Torres and maybe even Delap there. Dortmund really need cash in hand, especially if they miss out on UCL.Nothing has changed and City are still after a traditional 9. Lol, “Yorkshire tea”, what part of Yorkshire do they grow that in then?We need big balls, yorkshire tea and blue lego otherwise I'm getting the boos in early
Absolutely this. All that matters this season is this season to pep. The least distraction and disruption as possible is a mustI agree. I also think with the 4 trophies we're still fighting for it made sense for him to be as aggressive as he was. He needs his entire squad behind him in the next two months, and transfer talk at this level can be massively destabilising. You don't know how a player will react and therefore it's better to talk like nothing will happen and you believe in the players you have.
Sancho left because he wasn't going to get the chances that HE thought he deserved. Would that be fair to say?Ahh, the old Sancho 'story' when someone has no facts to back their narrative up.
'Learnt our lesson', PMSL.
That's a great shout especially the last line.I agree. I also think with the 4 trophies we're still fighting for it made sense for him to be as aggressive as he was. Would it be such a bad thing if we promoted Delap in to the first team with a couple of others from the under 23's, and that was it this summer?. Pep only likes a couple of strikers in his squad so assuming Jesus stays, it's him and Delap I feel.

We haven't lost our world class striker this season,we lost him the season before, he hasnt contributed for over a year, aguero you see now isn't the aguero of the past, people need to let it go, he has had his time, if delap comes in and scores 2 goals in the next year he would of contributed more than sergio has for the last year, it sounds like i don't care about sergio nothing could be further than that, I love the bloke for what he's done for the club, but he needs to go, finish his career somewhere he enjoys and us city fans need to move onIt wouldn’t be if we only had the ambitions of someone like Aston Villa or Southampton. If we’re going to continue to try and be the best and aim for the CL we need to continually improve the team, especially with losing our world class striker.
We are one lethal finisher away from being almost unbeatable. Look how many chances we create but miss. Haaland (or Kane) would solve that.
Because Delap at least is a long way yet from being a first choice striker. Certainly has it in him and I've no doubt we'll see more of him next season (along with one or two others).Would it be such a bad thing if we promoted Delap in to the first team with a couple of others from the under 23's, and that was it this summer?. We've lost one game in the last what, 28 of so? winning 24 of them. We are almost unbeatable as it is. And that is without sergio.
I think we have to be careful about taking what has been an exceptional run of form in a strange season and projecting it forward as the 'norm'. We have been exceptional for various reasons, but we haven't been perfect and probably the biggest weakness even in that run has been a lack of clinical finishing from the forward players.
In the Champions League for example where chances are few and far between the further in the tournament you go, the margins between success and failure get finer and those weaknesses can be exposed. That's not to say we can't win the lot this season, just that I think it's still very important to strengthen the 9 position for the challenges that lie ahead in the next few seasons.
Was good to see Pep rattle off the False 9 options in his squad yesterday. He isn't buying another one of those unless the player's name starts with Lionel and ends with Messi.
