I'm of a similar take, unless City are just covering all their bases, if Messi is indeed still keeping everyone in the dark.

Sorry if it’s already been asked. Does this suggest it’s either Messi or Grealish?

I always assumed we’d go for Messi no matter what if he became available. No way we pass that opportunity up.

City were gilding the lily a little on the Kompany narrative, as they simply couldn't afford to pay the money for Maguire.

Which is a bigger concern that they actually thought Maguire was a right option in the first place!!

The landscape obviously changes all the time, I don't see two or three established names still being around in the next couple of years, which will still give pathways to the youngsters.

There is a lot of talk at City about the fear for Brexit and what rules might be passed in the near future.

Academies are having to revise their plans because they are budgeting for a vacuum of not being able to bring in foreign talent until at least the ages of 18, although I am not up to speed on that.

In theory nothing really changes for overseas non-eu players, and we never had a differentiation in eu andnother foreaign players or limits on one over the other. What it does however limit is EU players that wouldn't have needed a work permit now needing one. Most will qualify, if they have enough international caps, will be no issue. The younger ones though might not, unless they meet the special talent criteria.

Not aware of any intentions to tighten that up further, but who can say in the future.

However, even before brexit, there has been proposals within the PL/FA to increase the home-grown quota from 8 to 12 (ignoring the CL limits for now) over the next couple years. And maybe thats partly the cover. Or maybe they just identified the player they consider the right fit irrespective of nationality.

I don’t doubt his potential, I doubt his chances of getting a run in the team to unlock the potential. Sterling, Foden, Mahrez, Jesus, Bernardo, maybe Haaland and/or Grealish. He is going to have to take his very first chances of next season otherwise I see it going similar to this one where he seems a little untrusted and doesn’t get put on the same regular rotation as the others. If that happens, then in the summer after next season, we perhaps have 1 spot in the squad for Torres, Palmer and Kayky to fight over. I think there is therefore doubt over the opportunity that Ferran will get. I hope he smashes pre-season and takes his early chances in the team, but I don’t see him as being on some unstoppable path to City greatness. I still feel he has to get a little lucky. Perhaps an injury or two in those forward positions. Otherwise he isn’t getting a run, imo.
Depends on the result between Rags V Dippers i'm of a thinking. Once the title is bagged we can afford the risk/reward and have a managed season end.

Give me the championship all day, more league games, a lot more local teams, better away days, no VAR bollocks.
Fuck the premier league.
I got ya covered mate

The only local teams in the championship and Blackburn and Preston. Blackburn always been one of my favourite away days but not sure i would swap the PL for blackburn and preston away.

That's the thing. I've seen people on here dismiss Messi, saying he is over the hill, where would he fit in, etc?

You always find room for top players - admittedly, he is in a class of one.

All the same, we had Aguero, Dzeko, Tevez and Mario, and Mancini still felt it was right to push forward again with Van Persie.

We rightly become loyal to the players who are with us here and now, but Grealish really does improve our options, and you can never turn your nose up at that.

I do think someone like Sterling needs more than just Foden breathing down his neck, simply because Phil can play anywhere!
Sterling needs to pull his finger out because Foden is ahead of
My opinion has changed over the last month. Foden's emergence as a best XI front 3 player makes me feel like Grealish is a non starter now. Foden, Mahrez, Sterling, and Torres is the right balance of age/experience/quality in those positions. For my money you can't add Grealish without losing one of Raz or Mahrez and I don't see that happening.
I can definitely see Raz leaving if we get a decent offer.

100% agree on Torres. Really (not) surprised by the levels of criticism he's received and the number of people who think he'll never be good enough.
Well I for one, think he’s going to be something special for us.
You only have to see the goals he’s scored, in the few games Peps played him. Not forgetting, it’s his first year away from Spain, the lockdowns and the huge restrictions he’s had to deal with, can’t be doing his mental health any good. It’s a lot different for an older player who has his wife and children around them, but for a young man it must be so hard.
I think Pep’s doing a great job with him (letting him learn the league over the first year) as he does with all the players we bring in.

All fair points, lets hope so,the talent suggests its probable.

Is that championship manager?
Yep, Championship Manager 3 with the 01/02 season update. It's pretty much the most popular older version and I believe it's freeware at this point. I prefer a couple versions later personally, for the 2D pitch and icons that run around.

I think the big question with him is whether there’s trickiness there he can apply to the league. It seemed like he had that in his bag from his highlights but he’s been supremely cautious in his time with us as a winger. He’s been a pretty decent ST for a young player but if we view him as a winger long term we aren’t really seeing flashes of skill or ability to beat a man that would suggest he needs time to settle. I wouldn’t write him off at all though as I do think it is there. It has taken Mahrez years to figure out how to express himself on the wings for us so it won’t surprise me if it takes anyone some time at this point. Keeping possession must be something that is just drilled into them in training

I spent hours on that game. I'm sure there is an android version on Google play.

You raise a very good point.

What I see with the current team, is a lack of players wanting to run straight at the opposition.
Using their individual talents and skills to get past them. We all know they have the required skills, but using them when the right opportunity arises is the key.
Could it be, that the players are afraid to let it all out every now and then? Not wanting to be the one who loses the ball, or being the one who gets dropped from the team, for not doing as Pep says!
