Watching Varane against us in the CL......I would disagree that he's much of an improvement if any.

That is not very clever way to look at it imo, have you watched him when Real won 3 CL finals in a row with him being a fix part of first eleven same with WC Final with France?

Or based on how we lost to Spurs, Lyon in CL Laporte would be not needed at even Championship level club...

Donnarumma, who everyone knows has already passed his medicals and signed for PSG, is still not yet announced because his team just qualified for the finals.

It helps when the player is not on national team duty and when his club is pressed to sell like Inter Milan.

For all we know, City could have deals line up but the players are still playing a tournament (Copa America/Euros) or the other team needs to replace their outgoing players with other players not yet available.
