I would be amazed if it is true we are no longer in the Messi race

Sheikh Mansour/Khaldoon/Soriano/the club have literally been dreaming of & planning towards his signing since 2008 (or whenever Soriano arrived), so I would be amazed we simply pulled out just at the time it becomes an actual possibility - however hard it may be at this late stage to make it work

I think they would be juggling all possible options to possibly make this work as we speak - be it Bernardo/Jesus out, or even Sterling or Torres to make room, I reckon nothing is off the table yet

I expect they've already done the maths in advance. There is no way our execs didn't know this outcome was on the cards. No way..

You seem to be a bit touchy about this...

I've not said anything about Walker's play being 'revolutionary'... just not what people seem to expect of a traditional full back like, say, Zaba was.

It could be said that Walker played a more traditional role at Spurs, but it can't be denied that his role has adapted significantly under Pep Guardiola, and that he is now a more complete player, who is comfortable enough when taking up a midfield position.

The fact is that Kyle Walker is a key member of the team who can adapt quickly to a number of roles to fit Pep's tactics.
He's a street better than Cancelo in my opinion, and is up there with the likes of Fernandinho in terms of players that we will struggle to replace when they eventually leave City.

I can tell from your argumentative attitude in response to my post that you'll continue to disagree with me on this. That's entirely your perogative, but you have to remember that this forum involves differing opinions and the need to accept that people won't always agree.

Just because you've named yourself after Phil Foden on here doesn't make you an expert on the game. ;-)
 
If we were in for him 12 months ago then same people are in for him now too. I dont buy it we are not.

I also think he wanted to renew even dropping his wage but the financial mess Barca is in may not allow it, this can totally change still imo in next 2-3 weeks.
But if it does not change and Messi is forced to leave (which he wanted so much 12 months ago lol) then we need to be in for him and make the needed transfers to move 1-2 additional player on top of Bernardoto accomodate him (Mahrez for example)

zero transfer fee and huge salary. makes sense to me. imagine paying same salary but 150m plus on top of that to Barca 12 months ago if Bartomeu is accepting that.

1. We won't have an issue replacing Walker when the time comes.
2. When he plays he does take up a more traditional RB role than cancelo does (similar to mendy vs. zinchy on the left side)
3. He is indeed more complete a player now than he was, and is indeed more comfortable taking up that position in midfield when need be.

I have to agree with you, even though I don’t want us to, I think it almost certain that the Board will be chomping at the bit to get Messi on City's books.

I would like to think that we wouldn't start discarding players on the cheap to make things happen, but as you say, this is what the owners have been dreaming of for years!

On point 1, I hope not, but have doubts that we will get anyone near as good!
