It's time to buy a new TV

Identify your self entity known as I knew Albert davies
Did we imbibe gills of ale in some corner of a foreighn field that is now forever England ?
And I do have 20/20- vision.
The doctor who performed my Hackney carriage medical even enquired if I had been a Kestrel or Sparrow hawk in a previous life.

I now have the last piece of the jigsaw to hand and will retire from this melee until D Day is upon us.
I understand there is a drop in size but this remains nessasasry to compensate for the high price of the OLEDS.
I have exchanged inches for quality of performance - Is that not what every fair maiden in the land would wish for ?
Sometimes size is not the defing criteria and it's what the thing can actually do that may please the recipiant.

And so the my final choice will be the LG OLED55B6V from John Lewis and other good stores.
Priced at the moment at the £2200 mark but poised for a possible black friday tickling at a possible good discuento.
Looks stunning and destined to slip well under the 2k radar. We shall see.

Samsung 7000
Samsung 8000
Hisense M7000
Panasonic 902
Ld oled 55 inch B6V

I managed to succumb to the £30 Martin Lewis deal for the Sky full package and Q box so will bang it through it's paces and be in a position to honestly review it's offing.

If I get time I will do a review and maybe aso a youtube unpacking video.
Good luck in your search for electrical nirvana and your promised land.
Adios;
We did indeed stop quite a fair amount of Spanish ale going to waste in that mecca of the rich mans play ground that is Benalmadena (pre Seville)whilst I was losing heavily at killer pool as someone had seen the opportunity to drink cola and clean up, if your eyesight was 20/20 on the way in it certainly struggled a bit on the way home of course it was a different day to our entry to said hostelry.

So you are from house Duckie.
Let me tell you that the secret of steel has always carried with it a great mystery. You must learn its riddle Bert . You must learn its discipline.
What is the greatest thing in life pal ?
To crush the rags -- See them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women .. Crom !

The only thing that blinded us both on the way home was your gaggle of arse cheeks mooning in homage to an evening well spent.

IT'S DUKY.

Mombassa bar I trust?

Great choice Taximania, But one thing I would suggest is, if you are willing to spend this kind of money on a TV, is to get it professionally calibrated.

Interesting read Moggy but to be honest I only have an allocation strike fund of £1500 max and to spend an aditional 20% on pro calibration would make my bottom lip quiver. There is anough information on the AV forums to set the set to the best settings I can muster.
I would like to spend less than this and the Hisense 65 " M700 series is my personal favourite up to now.
It all depends on the offers available on B.F

Yes full calibration can be expensive but as previously posted on this thread (by blueinsa) there is a lot you can do to make any TV perform better than its out of the box condition.

May I suggest you download this free disc from the AVS forum and follow the procedures explained in the dialogue.

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-display-calibration/948496-avs-hd-709-blu-ray-mp4-calibration.html

It will cost nothing in money just your time to burn it to disc.

Thanks for that Foxy and I will dowload it but not today as we have pressing business afoot.
A pint or three of Tadcasters elixor of life from the shambles square to steady the heart and mind.
A fine lager borne from the Sam Smiths stable to be enjoyed like a fine vintage wine.
Adios pal.

So Taximania , what did you eventually conclude in your very detailed research into this area . I too am now in the market for some new TV's one of which would be of the 65inch variety , did you draw up a final wish list if so what were they and what deals did you eventually find or are you still waiting for the infamous Black Friday to arrive ?
Those Hisense models now seem to be coming more mainstream and are now sold at John Lewis I see
Cheers
