ITV and our group games

Maybe the head of ITV sport is a rag, like the head of BBC text.

Quoted from the ITV sport website ... "
"All the drama and excitement from this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign is being covered as usual by ITV and Sky Sports.
ITV will continue to screen its chosen first pick of Tuesday night matches throughout the competition, from the group stages to next May’s final in Lisbon
."

So from that it looks like they get first pick of the Tuesday night games, and their choices have been....
Week 1 - Un*t*d -v- Bayer Leverkusen
Week 2 - Celtic -v- Barcelona
Week 3 - Arsenal -v- Borussia Dortmund
Week 4 - Real Sociedad -v- Un*t*d
Week 5 - Arsenal -v- Marseille
Week 6 - Un*t*d -v- Shaktar Donetsk

Does seem a though there may be a slight amount of bias at work here, for whatever reason.

But as somebody else has already mentioned, Shadygiz is a f*ckin lifesaver.
Might be a blue/red thing, what with Chelsea not having any games on either. Maybe the head of scheduling just likes red things, infact I bet he's peeling the skin off his edam cheese right now for his morning feast of cheese on toast, with red sauce of course, not HP.
Or maybe Chelsea's 3 opponents (Basle, Steaua and Schalke) were hardly stellar opposition so they didn't feel they were the best games to chose. It does seem a little unbalanced to have United in 50% of their chosen games, whilst City and Chelsea fail to feature at all. Surely they are supposed to provide coverage of all teams within the competition. The matches wil be picked way in advance, so the relative importance of the outcome can't have been factored in. That being the case why exactly isn't City's trip to Champion's League holders Bayern their chosen match, why pick what in all likelihood before the groups began was going to be an inconsequential game between United and Shakhtar? Ok, ultimately, there's more resting on the United game, but ITV didn't know that when they made their choice. They're chasing the viewing figures which, I suppose, is all they care about, but it does open them up to bias towards certain sides.

It isn't bias in the way some think it is, it's purely a money thing, which I can accept and don't really care about as it makes no difference to anything. As has been said, Sky's coverage is far better than ITV's anyway so whilst I appreciate not everyone can afford Sky or, if you believe some on here, part with it to make some sort of point against it, the fact we have the better broadcaster suits me fine.
My reply was a piss take by the way.

I don't have Sky anymore. Which means that tonight I've got to walk across the road and have a few Magners on a Tuesday.

It's a bloody liberty!

They have by far the worst coverage so it's nothing to be upset about. Unless you don't have Sky of course, but surely you can just go to the pub or stream it?

I'm puzzled - NOW TV for live footy streams - how's that work then? Doesn't seem to be an approved choice on the menu or do you mean buy a £9 Sky Sports Day pass or just stick their HDMI cable into your laptop?

I've never understood why people have a chip on their shoulder about this. Gooners are paranoid about it as well, but not to bluemoon levels.

Bottom line is ITV is ad revenue dependant, and United attract larger audiences than anyone else, regardless of the opposition.

It's a blessing. There can't be bigger twats on telly than Clive "that magic night in Barcelona" Tyldsly and Andy Townsend.

ITV caters for non-footballing people who like Yoonited and Ingerlund.

You sir, have it in one.
I bet half the folk on here used to kick off if one person got more jelly babies than them in the 10p mix, what with everything having to be balanced and all.
