Surely that's match fixingPlaced 13 bets on his own team to lose
If he bet on his team to lose and they got a late penalty, he's their penalty taker what does he do if they're drawingSurely that's match fixing
True, what a crap ban. Why did they need to wait over 5 months to ban him during off season. The crap that Southgate was coming up with was equally scandalous. Clearly he did not have a scooby about the extent of the chargesIt was scandalously lenient, a league 2 player got 8 months for 1 x £5 accumulator in 2009.
That ban was August so it was in effect a season ban, when Toney got 5 months Net.
They can bet on anything they like apart from football. Toney was betting against his own team on a regular basis, if a lower league player did that it would be 5-10 years.
He wasn't playing in any of the games where he bet on his own team to lose, so wasn't in a position to influence the result. Not really match fixing at all IMO.If he bet on his team to lose and they got a late penalty, he's their penalty taker what does he do if they're drawing
Shout at them, a last minute penalty is not the time to get the sketchbook out ffs!If he bet on his team to lose and they got a late penalty, he's their penalty taker what does he do if they're drawing
Nail on the head. Team-mates may be examining every conversation they had with him to see if he was being negative before the games he bet on.Yes, but smokescreen deflection tactics. As said earlier, a pro betting against the team he played in is awful. I wouldnt want to be in the same team as him ever again and if I was a manager Inwouldnt touch him with a bargepole. Hugely disrepectful to clubmates and undermines the fabric of what team sports and collective effort is about. Who would trust him?
