Ivan Toney

Doubt he'll play again this season.

Joey Barton was charged with the same thing. Around 150 charges I think and he was suspended for 18 months

The length of ban will depend on exactly what he’s betting on I’d have thought.

Barton admitted to making thousands of bets spanning the majority of his career. But probably most significantly, multiple bets on his own side to lose. That’s not something they can afford to treat lightly, even if there’s no suggestion he actively tried to influence the games he’d bet on.

I’ve no idea on the specifics of Toney’s offences. But I would have thought it’s exactly what the bets were on, rather than the number of them, that will be key in the length of suspension.

Should not have been allowed to play when he was first charged.

He hadn't admitted the offence. It is treated the same as other disciplinary offences, if a player appeals a red card they get to play until their hearing.

He's been unbelievably stupid and naïve. He's a Premier league footballer, with just his basic wage packet he'd have been comfortably off, then you think about the add-ons these players are entitled to: bonuses, sponsorships etc - not a bad standard of living for a relatively young man. Now he's tarnished his name by acting so irresponsibly as to do what he's done.

Sad, but he's not the first and he won't be the last.

The odd social media shows him coming across as a bit stupid.

His ego probably thought he couldn't get caught. Hopefully a humbling experience for him and he can continue his career after.

Stan Bowles says hello.

The premier league could use this as a good example and ban him until the end of the season. But he has to use a certain amount of his time to go to gambling rehab.

Better than just banning him for 18 months or whatever

Something we do terribly in this country is rehabilitation of offenders.

He's now instructed his lawyers to challenge the FA process after potentially leaked information in the press suggesting a 6 month ban, before there has even been a hearing.

Could be potentially interesting for City this too, demonstrating the process was not confidential or fair. Although I'd have thought there would be very clear evidence here such as traceable bets and payments, unlike with City I may add, there is still a correct and fair process to follow and if the FA can't demonstrate that has happened then I am sure Lord Pannick is taking note.

Not saying its acceptable or anything but i think these charges are from when he was at Peterborough.

We don't want to clear our name on a technicality as that would only continue the speculation of cheating.

Clear and IRREFUTABLE evidence.

We don't need hacking, VAR conspiracies, or Ivan Toney, just clarification.

If you’re hoping for rival fans or even agenda led journalists to confirm we’ve cleared our name, you’re in for a long and fruitless wait I’m afraid. Irrespective of anything ‘proved’ at a hearing.
