Trippier has something about him and he wasn't snapped up by a Premier League team when he left us either, and Kasper Schmeichel left us to join a League Two team. Signing for a team in a lower league doesn't automatically mean a player is crap.

I didn't say he was crap, just not up to premier league standard....at the moment....which is why I added some players are late developers.

There is loads of talent in English football & a lot of the best seems to be at City & Chelsea.

Hardly ANY are turning into Premier League footballers & many fans (as you can see in this thread) are just happy to accept that's proof that the player himself isn't good enough & not that the clubs, coaches, system, is getting it horribly wrong.

We are supposed to be the evolution & the cure for that.

About time we started seeing that.

Good post NN. I think Jay Da Silva went on loan from Chelsea a few weeks ago. IIRC he captained the Chelsea youth team to 3 consecutive youth cups and some European glory. I went to the last two outa cup finals and he stood out as somebody of Prem quality. Ian Wright commented on one game that he was the best left back in the country but he doesn't get near the Chelsea first team.

stop going on like we have just lost Kevin De Bruyne.

Nobody has said anything of the sort, read the fucking thread maybe !

All the cretins saying he didn't make it at Blackburn (who does at that car crash of an institution ?)so what chance has he at City, while ignoring his achievements the previous season in the Eredivisie at Cambuur (he was one of their players of the season and the fans there still adore him) is embarrassing.

If you don't know what you're talking about perhaps better not to offer your opinion !

He's gone, surplus, not good enough, whatever, there is no point in bigging him up now,he was not good enough at Blackburn, certainly meaning not good enough for us,so gets a chance at Wigan, where he will probably end up in the rugby team, and as for comparison in the Dutch league ? Ajax/Feyenoord/Psv apart it's league one standard at best, and I know that as I bet and watch it for amusement,Den Haag,Herenveen,Go ahead Eagles !!1 Equivalent to the likes of Oldham,Bury and Rochdale

I think there is a need for some perspective on the chances we give to EDS players. The best are given a chance. Every year we play a number in the League cup, the Fa Cup and at times in league games off the bench. This season Angelino and Garcia started against Swansea and Tosin and Diaz played off the bench. Garcia and Maffeo then started against the rags next round, Garcia has also come of the bench in a league game and the FA cup. Nacho had a similar introduction last year. The chances are there for the best, the issue is the level is so high. Harry Kane is frequently mentioned as an example but would he have gotten a chance if Spurs had an Aguero.

giving players one game a season isn't giving them a chance imo. garcia is the only one thats play a bit, most of that is off the bench for a few minutes.

I think the most disappointing thing is he wasn't given any chance to prove he could be good enough. i think we are going to have to accept 99% of our young players aren't gonna end up playing for us. especially when we can spend 50 m on instant first teamers.

I'm aware 'he's gone', hey it's even in the thread title .... but thanks for your pathetically infantile reply.
I'm not even that surprised that he's moved on, he's clearly eager to play regular football. I didn't 'big' him up either(how old are you btw mate ?!), I simply aired my disappointment that he had moved on prematurely imo and voiced my despair at some of the same old hackneyed, ill informed opinions being offered about him.

Like some have posted, our standard is incredibly high. The only real chance most of the youth will get is in the cups. Guardiola fielded some of them against the rags and got slated for not putting out a strong team.
Now we are getting over injuries we have strength from the squad and unfortunately that's going to push the young players from the bench on match day. Add in the young players we have bought (Sane, Sterling, Jesus) and it limits the options even further.
A young player would have to be truly spectacular to make the breakthrough.
