Jack Byrne signs permanently for Wigan

Therese lads are huge talents but If they are as good as Harry Kane I will be impresseed. Walker and Rose would walk into our team and suit Pep's philosophy. Spurs have attributes Pep wants so we no have Gabriel Jesus who matches the work rate of Son but will hopefully be more prolific.

Harry kane isn't all that, he just kept working his arse off to make himself good enough at his strengths to get by. As a footballer he's average. The kids we've got shit on him for talent, they have just need to maintain the application no matter what struggles they face. That's what's key to their success.

Where's the fury? Is he with his brother Tyson?

Why are you surprised that fans are disappointed that our youth system has failed to deliver a first team regular in a decade?

Also, would it be surprising that coaching in the Academy set up might be improved by more committed staff seeing some of the lads they have helped make the first team. Our coaches will be good but it's not so long ago that some deserted to join the rags. Hardly a sign of a very happy ship.

Jack Byrne going I can live with, if Tosin departs that would evidence some problems in the Academy.

Its all about opinions.I dont see Tosin making it at all at City, hope im wrong but confident im not.

Think if the current U18 lads and below dont make it then I would have real concerns.

Good point,a lot of good players lost to over confidence or issues in their personal lifes

Is there really this much surprise and fury that Jack Byrne has left?

The fact that he couldn't get into a struggling Blackburn side and has now moved to a struggling Wigan side should tell you everything you need to know! The way some of you go on it'a like we've just lost Iniesta in his prime.

No where near good enough for Manchester City and a three and a half year contract at a Championship club at heart is a fantastic move for him, the best of luck to him.

This..

When you look at the midfield options we have an abundance of young attacking players that are way ahead of Jack (Sane, Sterling, Nacho are all the same age as him and would all want to play behind a striker or as a wide player). And even they are up against the likes of KDB and Silva to get a first team spot. We also have Alex Garcia on the fringes of the team who plays a deeper more all round role, we also have Mooy at Huddersfield. Being realistic I just don’t see how Jack would get in. He has got a decent move and a great opportunity to build a career for himself as he will get games at Wigan (if he is good enough) where with us he might play 5 games in the next 18 months if he is lucky and if we overlooked some serious talent to make it happen.

I’m a big fan and advocate of the EDS but you have to be realistic and if you want someone to come through in to the first team you have to be looking to the likes of, Keletchi, Garcia and Denayer. At 20 you have to be on the fringes of top level football with us or on loan otherwise it makes sense for all involved to move players on. This will open the door for the likes of Sancho, Patching and Diaz.

The new Academy is still in its infancy
Giving young men the opportunity of the quality coaching they need is fantastic for the player. We have a production line of players that will be sold on for small fees, but overall will pay back the owner's investment and make the facility self funding
If we can integrate one youngster from the academy every two years that will be seen as success and if we produce a truly world class player, then that's half the academy paid for

At 20 years old, a player should be knocking on the door of the first team squad. If they're not then they should seek their career elsewhere
Football is a cruel business

He will not be the last youth player to be sold or released. We better get used to it.

I agree with you about the under 18s.

A lot very good points. We are still in the early stages of producing players for our own first team and at the minute our lads are looking like they can make it in the professional game and carve a decent career for themselves but are still short of making a real impact at our club. The Tosin situation is a tricky one.I would rather he stayed at City a bit longer. He could easily end up not signing the new deal at City and join Everton but find himself in the same situation (Everton are looking to bring in another Centre Back in the summer and will still be loaned out). The impression I am getting is that our senior defenders are still getting to grips in what Guardiola expects from them and the last thing we need is a young kid learning the ropes and struggling as well.

The comments from people such as 'oh well he probably won't make it at City, so it's a good move for him' are completely missing the point.

The point is: he has never had a chance.

Is he a good footballer ? Yes. Intelligent ? Yes. Willing to track back ? Yes. Tough ? Yes. Can he score goals ? Yes. Good enough to be on the bench for City for 40 games last season a brought through ? YES. Bad enough to cost City everything if we'd played him in a few games ? No fucking way, he's a good player. Spare place in squad for him, so it would have cost nothing to give him a chance ? Yes.

We have lost several whole generations of talented footballers, of whom about 6,7 maybe 10, should have worn City's first team shirt, on several occasions before being judged or discarded.

Now, as some of us predicted, those kids have a queue of talented 16, 17, 18 year olds behind them, who all need football. They are 20 years old or more now, & nobody knows a fucking thing about them at City, other than they haven't set the world on fire whilst on loan (well some have but it didn't fucking matter).

Clearly, hardly any are going to get a chance. They are the equivalent of the bloke in the 4 hour queue for the rollercoaster, who gets to the kiosk & realises he's lost his wallet. They did everything asked of them, outperformed the Rashfords & cockneys who we now see in the Prem, knocked Sané & his mates out of europe & were rewarded by fuck all. Stick 'em on stage & tell the world how great our academy is, then fuck them off.

It's not on.

If they were at the swamp, they would have had first team football & even if they didn't make it, their abilitues would be known, not completely unknown, & therefore they would be worth money.

We have done EVERYTHING wrong.

Pep, pease don't ignore the next bunch like the previous manager did. It's criminal.
