I'm aware 'he's gone', hey it's even in the thread title .... but thanks for your pathetically infantile reply.
I'm not even that surprised that he's moved on, he's clearly eager to play regular football. I didn't 'big' him up either(how old are you btw mate ?!), I simply aired my disappointment that he had moved on prematurely imo and voiced my despair at some of the same old hackneyed, ill informed opinions being offered about him.

I'm 45 mate, infantile as you say, enjoy the rest of your career Jack, all the best lad

I think Byrne is probably the first example of a player moving on through frustration to be honest. We may start to see a lot of this, whether we agree or not, if these youngsters (and bear in mind they're youngster who have constantly out-performed their peers, many now playing in the PL) don't feel there is a chance they'll get anything more than one 15 minute sub appearance.

We have to be careful because we risk being nothing more than a finishing school for these talented kids in the lower age groups. What's to stop a parent sending their kid to City between 12 and 17 and then telling them to sign a scholarship somewhere else knowing they'll be possibly the best u18 at their new club and have a vastly easier chance at quick progression through the ranks? It will happen if we don't project the right message and all this investment will have been futile.

I think there is a need for some perspective on the chances we give to EDS players. The best are given a chance. Every year we play a number in the League cup, the Fa Cup and at times in league games off the bench. This season Angelino and Garcia started against Swansea and Tosin and Diaz played off the bench. Garcia and Maffeo then started against the rags next round, Garcia has also come of the bench in a league game and the FA cup. Nacho had a similar introduction last year. The chances are there for the best, the issue is the level is so high. Harry Kane is frequently mentioned as an example but would he have gotten a chance if Spurs had an Aguero.

Considering that Bony, Navas and Fernando have played over 200 league games for us between them I wouldn't say the level is that high. Celina came on an got an assist vs Leicester last season, but wasn't seen again. And the less said about the complete farce vs Chelsea in the cup the better.

Good luck to him, deserves an opportunity to play and prove himself. We've seen more and more players from lower leagues show they can make it at the top level, the gap isn't that big. The most important thing for a players development is time on the pitch. We've got to stop having this stalling period from academy - first team.

Our u18s are brilliant, and we've got to make a huge decision on those aged 19-23 this summer. Move on any that we're unsure about or we risk clogging things further and the last thing we want is our talented players struggling for opportunities.

Glad for him that he managed to go to a decent team.

Hopefully he will start his career there and end up soon in the premier league.

The more players our academy can produce to the Premier league the better.

Not having been anywhere near a premier league first team squad I have no idea how easy it is to have senior professionals around not being involved, but maybe that's part of the problem.
But I can see us getting rid of Cabellero, Zabaleta, Sagna, Clichy, Toure, Fernando, Navas and maybe Delph and Nolito. So 7/9 out. And maybe just bringing in 2 full backs a centre back, a centre midfield. So 4 in.
That would make it easier to have younger players in the squad and on the bench at least, players like Garcia, Roberts, Maffeo, Adaraibiyo, Gunn, and one or two of the younger ones.

What's the fee?

Any details yet? Fee? Sell on clause? Buy back clause?

Anyone got any info on this yet? Apologies if posted but I couldn't see anything on here or the sites who've reported the transfer.

Maybe we got a decent fee? The club is a business after all and a lot of the academy players will be brought in with the goal of turning a profit on them rather than unrealistically expecting them all to turn into first teamers.

Not that it makes a difference to my sense of disappointment; Jack's a talented player with a decent work ethic and has always come across as being down to earth and a likeable guy. I'll just have to add him to the list of players I hope comes good and returns to the club one day.

However, I do think the doom and gloom regarding our academy is a tad dramatic.

Disappointing that he hasn't been given a chance but then we are not exactly seeing anyone become a regular for the first team within the academy.

I look at A. Garcia and he isn't getting game time now even though he's played when called upon and were most likely going to go in for more midfielders so when exactly is he going to play.

If Maffeo doesn't get a chance next season we may as well forget about any of the players coming through to get game time with us.

Been looking today, but can't seem to find any mention of a fee.
