with the money coming into the league next season i think it will be very difficult for any team - including newly promoted teams - to get to take on academy players to further develop.

everyone in the league will be able to afford at least a 10m-15m finished article i reckon.
A form of false economy though. Every single sport in existence has a huge mental element, mentality is often the difference between winning and losing rather than skill. A less experienced player trying to prove himself will often do better than a 'better' player who has less motivation.

You only have to look at this season as a perfect example.

It's bollocks that teams can't use kids & it's been proven wrong over & over again year in year out yet people keep repeating it.

It will be proven wrong again next season. Be nice if it was us for a change.

I hope we have a good look at Jack.

Aye, all the most dominant teams currently (and probably in the past) have all had homegrown players in the team, i'd actually suggest not only is it possible to succeed with them, it's almost essential for long term success. They bring something extra, that you can't buy.

Another player well on his way to an excellent career in football. Lovely. Fingers crossed he gets his chance to impress preseason. The guy's got an incredible attitude to his development.

Whats your gut feeling pal? mine is he wont get a look in here, and that wont be based purely on his ability.

I know what you mean - he's not glamorous and that won't help. BUT, he will get to be with Pep in preseason while all the seniors are away resting and if anyone is going to have the strength of character to stand out and impress Pep during July then it could be him.

I think JB was a better player than Manu Garcia at the same age, by some distance. He seemed to know whrre everyone was, without looking. Then he kind of stood still a little bit but now looks as if he's moving forward again.

Garcia seems to have been fast tracked into the first team setup & maybe he's expected to suddenly jump past the others in development. But imo Jack deserves the chance first & by a long way. He also seems to have the confidence & desire to go with it.

I agree and all we,and he,can hope for is that he's afforded a reasonable crack of the whip in pre-season,anything different would not only be be grossly unfair but would also go against the very principles we are supposedly integrating.

I'll be very disappointed if Pep turns out to be yet another money manager.

Definitely deserves his chance to prove to Pep in pre-season that he's good enough. Seems like a really well grounded kid who knows how to play football and when I say that I mean he understands all aspects of the game, a proper centre mid if you will.

I'm telling you know, he could do a better job than Delph has done...thats meant to be a compliment!

Hope both Byrne and Denayer get a chance next season.

They have both gone out on loan and impressed and look like they can definitely add something to the side. Add to the fact they will both be eager to impress and we have the added bonus of adding two academy players to the side.

Imagine going into the new season with Iheanacho, Byrne and Denayer in the side and then sending the next batch of promising youngsters out on loan.

Now he has played his last match for Cambuur. What would people give give him as a rating?

6/10 for me. He is good and i would like to see what Pep does with him. He stood out in a poor team and has had some plaudits.
Now the nitty gritty will start for him and the transfers this summer will give a big indicator on his status within the club.
Anyhow well done Jack, a good run out at Cambuur and good luck back at City.

That seems incredibly harsh Ken given the comments I have read from others and the highlights I have seen myself. What does he do well and what does he do poorly in your opinion?

If you have watched him for the majority of his time then I can only bow to your insight and knowledge.

To be fair Mr Fant, this is about everyone's own opinions.
I gave mine, i was hoping to see others about Jack, rather than what i have said. I got the ball rolling and was interested in everyone's view.
I may well be out of step but the view on Jack by the poster is more interesting and we can get a bigger and more accurate assessment.

I'd go with a 7/10 as I think he's done really well and proved he's ready for 'adult' football - albeit in a fairly poor league.

He had a difficult start to his time there, picking up an injury immediately, which would've impacted his happiness while trying to adapt to a new culture.

Therefore I think he's shown real strength of character to grow into one of their key players over the past 5 months or so.

I'd like to see him ahead of Manu Garcia in getting first team football for us and I think he'd suit the premiership really well. He's tough, a battler, but also has technique, awareness and football intelligence in abundance.

There's no doubt in my mind that he'll play in one of the top leagues for the majority of his career. Hopefully it'll be mostly at MCFC and he'll become an effective squad player at the very least.

In the limited number of games I've seen him play in the Dutch League, he's been one of the best players on the pitch each time imo.

Considering the team he's playing in is borderline incompetent, it's quite an achievement for a small lad who relies on pass & move football, to show up in a team that can't pass & are too stupid to move. I would wonder exactly how Silva or Nasri would fare in a team like that. If I had to guess I'd say very poorly. I doubt they would score many, if any.

So for me, taking into account the circumstances, it's an 8 for that league, but that means nothing as regards the Premier League.

He is a tough character & works relatively hard, but he's no Fernandinho so if he was here now, he would be competing with Silva or Nasri as attacking mid as he wouldn't last 5 mins deeper in this team.

But if he was here now, I'd pick him over Silva this season no problem at all.
