Great move for the lad. Plus we can see him play far more often now.

Don't think they televise/stream a lot of games in Championship. But it was the case in Eredivise, so... we rather going to see him less actually.

It is a move that is good for Jack and the club. He is only what 20 so its a good move. I like Owen Coyle as a manager I think this will be a good loan move for Jack. I think he will get capped while at Rovers. They have a few Irish internationals in the squad in Shane Duffy and Anthony Stokes they seem to be putting a good team together. They will be fighting for promotion this season. Look at most players youths some go out for 2 years on loan and is good for them think with Byrne this will add more to his game. Good move this time next year he be back at the club with a few international caps under his belt too.

It was under Owen Coyle that Wilshere started to shine wasn't it? And a similar loan spell for Sturridge as well IIRC so it looks like Byrne is going to get plenty of chances.

Yeah Owen Coyle did give the 2 lads a good run out in the teams while they were at his teams. I think if we are looking at a manager who will give some lads a chance in the teams then the likes of Owen Coyle is that type of manager.

They don't play in the same position though, Aleix plays much deeper than Jack, that's probably the reason he's going out on loan. The competition for places further forward will be wicked this season at least, the following season Pep will know who fits his team and of course they'll all be a year older.

Agreed, Coyles a good one for giving youth a chance to develop and I wouldn't be surprised thats why he's headed where he has.

Not trying to pick on you Mike, but you mind if I ask why you don't rate his ability going forward? We're talking about a guy who had more successful passes in the final third than any other Eredivisie player in 2016 -- and that was on a defensively-inclined team, where motivating forward campaigns was significantly trickier than it is at the top. He strikes me as such a technically gifted player for his age. Some of his decisions and touches are truly brilliant, and hard to find in a player of his experience -- knows what he's going to do with the ball long before it gets to his feet.

I worry that for some people (not directed at you, Mike) there's a preconceived notion about him because he's Irish. They imagine a lot of grit, determination, etc. etc. (fill in your own Irish stereotypes). Whereas if he was Spanish, Croatian, etc. he'd be lauded for his technique & vision.

Regardless, I wish he was staying for pre-season under Pep, because I do feel he's ready to be eased into our first team. But the backlog in our central attacking midfielder department is formidable, so if he goes out on loan good luck to the lad.

Kind of with you on that mate. He scores goals like hardly anyone in our midfield does since Yaya lost his legs. Look at some of the long range strikes in here! Some absolute blinders for Cambuur last year.

If that represents goals from midfield than Fernandinho is a source of goals. Even Yaya - who you're saying can't get goals anymore, got 8 last season.

I don't see it, having watched quite a few of his Cambuur matches, and like you said yourself, youth records mean very little. I'd be amazed if he got 10 league goals for Blackburn next seaosn and thats the minimum for a number 10 to be described as a goal threat.

Point is he's always been a goalscorer. That literally is his game, and he's shown subtle signs this year that he could do it professionally too with three blinders and one very, very intelligently worked goal. It's in his blood and it's fair to expect that one day that will happen again. It might not, but it's not unreasonable to suspect otherwise. There's been nowt to suggest that in a good team playing forward thinking attacking football, as opposed to the negative one he was in last year, that he wouldn't score plenty in the future. My point is I watched him 4 or 5 full games for them and despite clearly being Cambuur's best player, and being the focal point of their team, he just wasn't looking to score. I'm pretty sure I watched entire 90 minutes without a single shot from him, and without looking it up I reckon he'd probably average 1 or 2 shots a game. There were loads of opportunities for him to shoot, or look for goals, but almost in a Silva-esque manner, he just wasn't interested.

So I just can't see it happening any time soon - and to get back to the original point of this conversation, I certainly can't see him being the goal threat our midfield needs next season.
