Trawling the other Birmingham forums to see how they see this business , I came across this on the Birmingham City main forum (Small Heath Alliance). Made me laugh. Also reminded me of the kind of gallows humour that typified us not so very long ago.

This is the most exciting part of the season for Blues fans.

We are nearing the summit.

On FIFA?

This is the real world, for fuck's sake!
And in the real world Grealish is massively over rated and over priced. We have better players in his position. The priority is supposed to be a striker but paying this much suggests he will be our only buy.

Birmingham City should retire the number #10 for Grealish..

I get there will be rotation but where does he fit in, especially if we get kane?

Something like?

Sterling Kane Grealish

KDB Gundog/foden Rodri

Slightly mixed emotions on signing Grealish. He's obviously a talented player and crowd pleaser but I'm concerned he'll affect the rhythm of our play going forward. Don't mind his antics if we're winning and need to play out the game but against the top teams I wonder if that style will affect our ability to break forward quickly. I'd love to see how Pep can bring out new attributes to his game because we may be witnessing a sensational midfield alongside Kev, Gundo and Phil.

no doubt he’s class and a joy to watch. great technique, flair, directness. don’t understand people saying he’s not worth £100m. he’s definitely worth £100m to someone, but I’m not sure it’s us

where does he fit in? we have more world-class creative playmakers than any other team in Europe: Foden, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Gundogan. Then you have Sterling and Torres also competing for the wide positions. We need Kane or Haaland, that’s it

If you're spending 9 figures on a player he should be one of the inaugural names on the team sheet. Not a utility player. This would be a daft signing. He's technically not as good as a Foden or Bernardo. He scores goals, he can pick a pass. He isn't very quick. He's marketable and has the personality that will garner huge amounts of press. He reminds me of a very raw Lampard, but can he reach those lofty heights? Is he an improvement on what City already has? Not for me. Would the fee be worthwhile? Depends how you define what ''success'' is. Save the 100m and put it towards Kane.

I think some are taking into account the 'Pep' factor too much on this one. This reminds me of a mid/late 00's City signing. Gareth Barry tier.

If all this were true surely you should be delighted.

But besides that, None players off the fucking green. 8-)
