United are after him now and that means one thing doesn't it? They'll throw boatloads of cash at him, we will deem it to be too much and they waddle off into the sunset with another lead weight around their necks on a huge salary probably for 5 agonising years.

He is a good player, but he definitely ends up benefiting from being the guy who runs Villa completely, their entire game plan is to get the ball to him, and if he slots into a team where he's just one of many I think he could become peripheral quite quickly especially if they slot him on LW as has been rumoured.

On the other hand, if they don't put enough around him and end up paying 80m, the pressure will crush him because he doesn't deliver every game, but no one notices his quiet games.

Absolutely, all my Villa mates are adamant he's above that assessment but I just don't see it. They actually want us to sign him too as they'd be gutted if he went to the Rags and turns into another flop of theirs. At least our last 3 Villa signings have done OK.
 
I'm one who would like us to get him, but I do understand if we don't due to the price getting too high. I actually thought if Villa failed to go up last year we could have got him for maybe £20m, but that's way off now even if they go down.

If he were to join us and develop under Pep, he could be fantastic as a number 8. He has a lot of qualities similar to KDB, though he'd obviously have to step up a level and deliver consistently.

Other teams, would probably stick him on the wing or just off the front man and he'd deliver some good figures in terms of assists and goals, but he won't become the player he can unless Pep gets hold of him.

They will get it right eventually , Liverpool & Utd will be back at the top very soon
