Jack Grealish

When Sky Sports are literally the only outlet reporting a buy out clause, I would err on the side of caution.

No decent journalists/publications have actually confirmed the clause.

Until someone like John Percy confirms it from Villa's side or, if we progress with a deal and someone like Lee/Mullock/Gaughan/Blackburn confirms it from City's side, it's all conjecture.

I highly doubt you're getting Villa briefing their journalists that Grealish isn't for sale at any price when he's available with an undervalued release clause.
Do you not think villa would have told sky sports to remove the buy out clause contexts if is was not true.

Ah ok, gotcha. I misinterpreted your post as I thought you were implying that Depay is a cheaper alternative to Grealish, not that they had similar styles. Sorry dude.

Who do you think could be a cheaper alternative? I’m struggling to think of any that would have the same impact in both LW or CM, but I don’t watch as much football as I used to
No problem. I cannot think of anyone who could be equally adept in both positions either. If Grealish were to sign for us, then it's hard to see him playing in central midfield, not with our current midfielders, well at least not initially. His strengths lie in the attacking third and coming in from the left, but much like Mahrez did, he'd have to learn to curb his free-spirit tendencies and conform to the team system.

brilliant post and on the money! Said this to an everton in the boozer last week when he was telling me how wealthy their owner was?

Villa are comfortably wealthy enough to buy Buendia and others without any sales.

They don't need to worry about UEFA ffp because they aren't in European competition and the PL FFP has massive leeway.

In fact spending big now on young talents would be the smart thing to do because it will mean they have a side, and high value assets to sell when they are ready for Europe and FFP.

Villa deferred 36m of TV money and so like us their losses last year aren't that big a deal going forward.

Point is, they can afford to improve the side considerably while keeping Grealish. Getting giddy over them buying a few players is putting 2 +2 together to make 11.
