Yeah, not sure how the numbers would work squad wise without any further outgoings tbh. Unless Gundogan reverted to a 6 again when Fernandinho goes, but that’d be a bit of a waste given how well he’s performed further forward this season.
And obviously the knock on effect to the academy, even if the talent is there.....a place in the squad might not be.

Its going to be a headache inducing summer for one or two!

Fuck Mendy off on loan somewhere with us paying his wages. We don’t need to replace him this summer, can cope with Zinchenko, Cancelo, Ake and Laporte imo.

How would Mendy leave? He is in contract until 2023, two more seasons after this. I don't think anyone will be rushing to sign an injury prone left back. I think we're stuck with him.
We could always do a heavily subsidized loan if we really wanted to. Someone would take a punt on him without a big financial commitment.

Edit: haha what Rammy said ^^^^^

I agree to a certain degree, however I don’t think it’d be that difficult to ”move Mahrez on” after his return to form, and especially as he’s now 30 (I think). 2 years left on a deal, both PSG and Real have been mooted to be looking at him, which of course I know could be bullshit and spin by agents, but his resale value is plummeting and do we want to be giving him a fresh deal at his age? Consequently, with 2 years to go, if we got a bid of circa £40/50mil, which wouldn’t be too outlandish, then I could see us possibly letting him go. High wages wouldn’t be an issue to those 2 clubs mentioned.

Paris is Mahrez's home town so he'd be interested in going there if they came in for him.

Not sure how this would work Can only be to replace Mahrez but sell any big players will be hard and buying him will cost a fortune

Not ran expert on him or Villa but guess he can play anywhere along the front or deeper but he does not cut in the same way as Mahrez not a false 9 like he is or others players won’t replace Aguero

We have other priorities surely

Probably some italian club then with a loan to buy option haha. Watch him land at Roma or Inter or something.

I’d rather get Grealish and keep Sterling tbh.
Even if Sterling demands crazy money? Hes already on £300k a week. Difficult to justify hes worth more than that. Certainly no other club would pay him more than that.

I doubt hes looking for nominal increase tbh. Players usually want proper increase unless they are in mid 30s.

These players can't justify big increase when they already get bonuses for winning, goals, assists, 100 games etc it can't just keep climbing
Aguero & Ferns wages help cover any newbies but I expect City have lots of room for extended deals etc

Haaland wages are definitely holding Kev back before Sterl8ng City have new deals to sort out with Stones, Cancelo, Zinchenko, even.payrises for Dias, Gundo, Eddy & Phil

I have a feeling we aren't going to get a LB.

The Portuguese press are talking a lot about Nuno Mendes being signed and arriving a year later, and I can definitely see that happening and the forum losing their minds.

I just don't see us shifting Mendy, and Pep was very positive about him last week, especially about his attitude around the squad. Can easily see him being kept behind Zinchenko and Cancelo.
I could accept that if it means we nail Haaland and Grealish. We would have Zinchenko, Cancelo, Mendy, Laporte, Ake all capable of playing LB to varying standards. I could honestly accept going another year with those options to absolutely perfect our attack and knowing that we have Mendes waiting to join. That would actually be perfectly fine.

BBC web page claims in their Football Rumours that we are well in front for Grealish`s signing.
Take it with a pinch of salt as its from The Mail.
Manchester City are leading the race to sign Aston Villa's England midfielder Jack Grealish, 25, who has been a prime target for city rivals Manchester United

Not for me. Have plenty of his type, we don't need another, don't need homegrown players either and he'll be way overpriced because of that.

He's only getting anywhere near our side as a wide player, foden is currently playing out there almost exclusively, sterling is out there, torres we expect to push for a place next season out there and mahrez plays out there. There's also jesus as an option there which we could see more of if we bring in a striker as well as Bernardo and the potential Messi. We would have to sell sterling or mahrez before we could consider another signing and mahrez is a better game changer, offers something a bit different that we need in the side and is the only one who favours the right and if we sell sterling we have to bring in somebody with pace as the attack badly lacks it already and he's the only one with any.

Makes no sense for us to be interested, I'd stick it in with the weird CB rumours

Ah the old City v Utd transfer, where they say we’re in front, next week the said player will be snubbing us for the rags, couldn’t get more obvious as night follows day, with the gutter press.
