Jack Grealish

That’s a different point. Regardless of whether it’s Kane, Haaland or someone else. A striker and Grealish will be circa £180m
It’s not a different point. I was making from the start a comparison.

Zinchenko at LB and Ake into DM or Laporte for either position perhaps?

IMO Zinchenko has learnt a lot in the role and has clearly become a very good left back, not an absolute monster but an excelent fit for our style of play.
If Zinchenko was playing LB for say Leeds and we could see him, a left back playing from the back with passes as polished as a midfielder, see him comfortable playing in tight spaces in the final 3rd, being able to cope with the rigours of the Premier League, no settling in required, would instantly understand our system of play like as if he’d been tutored by Pep for years, would love to play for City forever etc. then I think that there’d be a thread dedicated to him in the transfer forum - because many of us would see him as a very good fit for us.

Regards Ake playing DM for us could also be a goer? He’s a fast lad, good with his head, has I think played DM in the past? Or maybe even Laporte at either LB or DM?

Anyhow, that’s what I’d do to sort the DM and LB positions and then I’d buy both Kane and Grealish and I’d be as chuffed as a dog with two dicks.

Might sound a bit mad but I think that would seriously strengthen us.
I really don't see that happening. Isn't Dinho going to stay another year? If so get a DM next summer.

Grealish can split time on the left with Foden. After a season under his belt he could do a Bernie and start to play on the left side of midfield as Gundo gets older and his time needs to be managed like D. Silva before.

Didn’t see the game earlier - anyone watch it and got an update on how he’s playing on his return from injury?

I’m all for Grealish signing, but someone would have to leave to make way.

It simply doesn’t make sense if there isn’t a major outgoing and I’m not sure who that would be. Sterling is one big name everyone keeps pointing to, but I just can’t see it unless he’s pushing for a move himself.

It was a signing that made complete sense last summer when we lost both Silva and Sane, but we’re now stacked both in terms of wingers and central midfielders.

You don’t sign a £70m+ player like Grealish purely as a rotation option. He will need to be a key player in this team and I don’t see how that happens with our current strength in depth.

Where does sterling fit? I’d imagine Phil 1st choice and Sterling 2nd for the LW slot. Unless Sterling is sold then he’s not going to be behind Grealish on the left. Imo Grealish can only be accommodated if someone leaves. There’s only really Sterling that falls into that category unless theres a surprise departure.

I may be in the minority, but I don't think we'll sign a striker tbh. I don't think we'd pay the amount for Kane or Haaland. I think Sterling may get games on the left or right depending, but he needs to improve or spend time on the bench.

Grealish can be better than Sterling on the left imo. Not as much pace, but seeing how we play and attack slower at times he can keep the ball and create more with link up play to put balls into the box. He can do similarly to what Mahrez does on the right.

For Sterling he really needs help in someone playing the ball to him quickly and closer to the box for him to be effective. He's not at his best out wide and further away from goal. I think the way which we play in a slower fashion leads to him not being effective.

I think a striker signing is almost assured for the summer. We announced Aguero too early, for us to know there isn't an alternative in the pipeline. Most on here have shouted about the amount of chances that get constantly wasted in games, and I just think it shows the players like Sterling and Jesus, are just not clinical enough to carry out side forward.

It'll be Haaland, Kane or even someone out of left field, as we need someone there, when false 9 isn't a preference.

I agree entirely.Grealish has far more tools for the job,he would be a far more effective player than Sterling in our set up.
Foden,Bernardo and Grealish share similar technical ability and mindset, they are all capable of playing across the midfield and interchanging positions as required or desired.
The opposition would be in bits at the movement and the passing precision.

Still hoping we do sign Grealish. Many are questioning where he would fot in the side but we need to be mindful that we are going to finish this season with only a few more points than last time. We still need to improve. A lot of reasons for fewer points and a lot of players will continue to improve, but signings need to be made.

When Grealish was injured Villa were 8th in the table, 4pts off Liverpool who were 4th and with two games in hand. That was after 24 games.

They are now 11th and 14pts off 4th having played 37 games. They simply fell apart without his ability to control the tempo and create chances for them.

I really hope Gareth starts Grealish and Foden this summer so we can all see what City could be getting!
