I once ran across Lloyd Street South to Varleys newsagents and thought I spotted a gap in the traffic, left my run a bit late, so a police car swerved and crashed into a wall.

I was only ten, so I did a runner, but the police asked the newsagent who I was and two officers were waiting at the house when I thought the coast was clear an hour later.

United had just been knocked out in Nov 93 by Galatasaray.

I felt pretty guilty.
