Jack Rodwell

With regards to Rodwell I think he would be an ideal player for our squad.

He is not ready to start for us imo however playing and training alongside the calibre of players we have (Yaya, Silva, NDJ, Kompany, Barry) will make him a better player. I could certainly see him pushing Barry in the next 12mths to play the left side of NDJ.

We have to look at succession planning in the side not just worldbeaters who will slot in now.

Unfortunately Liverpool paying £20m for Henderson will only add to Everton's desire to get the same amount for Rodwell and he certainly isnt worth that.

Milner is the successor to Barry's position.

Dont disagree there bud as I felt we should have been playing him there most of last season instead of stuck out on the left or right.

However, competition for places is paramount especially with 4 comps next season.

rodwell imo is one of those players who in 2/3 years time people will still be saying "this kid is gonna be great" without actually doing a lot on the pitch to prove it.

we've heard a lot past 2 years on how he's the best young english player but if you spend most of the time on everton's bench you can't be that special.

his first touch is shocking..

the only one that impressed me watching your U-21's last night was Sturridge. At a push, I'd say the left full was decent, Bertrand.

United have been shafted for Jones and Smalling.

I work with 2 pretty knowledgeable Everton fans who think that Rodwell is unbelievably over rated. They think he's got lots of potential, but he looks out of his depth in most of the first team games he plays.

If you consider the size of the transfer fee (definitely over £20m), he simply wouldn't be worth it.

Just shows how good Vidic is that Smalling looked good alongside him, his passing last night was terrible.

Roberto Mancini sent scouts to Denmark to watch the midfield schemer, 20, in action against Spain and has been told Rodwell would be a sound investment at £25million.

Bloody hell, the scout who said that needs sacking!

Don't get me wrong, I think Rodwell could turn out fantastic, but right now its all potential and a lot of injuries. £25m is the range we paid for Yaya and Silva.
