For the amount of money Rodwell will cost us we would be close to the figure needed to buy Mata.

I would spend a little extra and get Mata.

Totally different players who could be expected to do different jobs in our squad...

Money aside, I like him a lot as a player and if there's an opportunity to bag him this summer, we should do it...

His development seem to have stalled, two years ago he looked like a future star now he looks like a physical player with a limited technical ability.

He might still develop further, but signing him would be a big gamble imo.

I haven't a clue if he is on our radar, but if I was going to spend 20/25m on an English player, this lad would be the one!!

Maybe he has had a lean spell recently, but I believe he has the class to reach the top.

I work with an Everton fan who says he's stayed still in the last 18months, not improved a bit!

I too work with a few and they are pissing themselves regarding the reported fee which although inflated by the press, will still be way too high for a player that has done nothing for over 12 months.
I'd question his attitude since one thing that Moyes gets out of his players is spirit and application even if they are shite.
If we aint careful folk will stop laughing at Henderson / Liverpool and start with us and Rodwell.

This is where the coaching comes in. He may have stalled but perhaps Bobby has seen enough to know he can get more out of him? Moyes is not a technical coach imo whereas Mancini is and this could be where the difference will be made. That said I certainly wouldn't pay over the odds for him if we are in for him at all.

If we can bring in Fernando before 11pm tonight then this would be a good deal for us if Jack is up to it. He'll improve as a player under Simeone and his passing will tighten up in the Spanish league. If he improves we take him back when the loan expires, if not we sell him on. All depends on signing Fernando today !

Peronally would like to see him being groomed as Kompany's understudy. He has the height and pace to play at the back and would be just as comfortable on the ball when bringing it forward.

I do believe from renegade Evertonian offspring that that is where Jack began his footballing career!

Think the season he broke through was when we bought Lescott and Everton brought in Distin and Heitinga. I know he's regarded as a midfielder, but he's not the type of midfielder that suits our style of play. I do, though, think he could be a defender who suits our style of play.
