pass the ball to jack rodwell
pass the ball to jack rodwell

Sorry, Rodwell was like a square peg in a round hole today. Who was supposed to be playing holding midfielder today as I saw Lescott and Richards completely unable to cope with 2 bustling centre forwards and no cover to help them out. It didn't help that Kolarov was out of position for 95% of the game either.

To me it was like the England question, can Gerrard and Lampard play in the same team, can Yaya and Jack play together. Neither of them played a defensive screening role whilst the other played a bit.

Who cleared the ball for his second goal? Dzeko! Shouldn't Rodwell have been there and Dzeko breaking, co-incidentally the last player to score a similar goal in the 1-6.

Now yes, he played well going forward and took his goals well but our season has been built on solid defensive work and today showed what happens when you stray from the basics of what we have been doing all season.

Sorry Carver, don't agree about the holding midfield role. He has too much too give going forward to be held back, and not sure he's good enough defensive wise to be given that role. I assume he was literally a replacement for Barry, who actually covers a lot of the pitch over the course of a game. Plus I don't think we thought we needed a defensive midfielder in a game like today.

Very excited about Rodwell

I agree that those 2 aren't exactly the best "sitting" midfielders. Rodwell is best as box to box and he can definitely fit in the team somehow but a position needs to be found to really get the best out of his capabilities.

Could score 20 goals a season from midfield if he had legs that worked
Could be, but lets not rush to any conclusions, he did afterall only score 4 goals in 84 games for everton.

True, although he seems to be playing a much more attacking role with us than he did at Everton. Seems very hungry to get in scoring positions.
Yeah ill give you that mate, hopefully we got ourselves a lampard. Scratch that. Hopefully Rodwell will make a name out of himself instead of comparing him to legends, haha

can jack and yaya play together well yes but not if yaya plays like he did today and has recently jack was doing 2 players work and is also wasted as a holding mid, the second goal was yaya not tracking his man and as far as no cover for the defence it would of helped if the defence were in the right position to start with richards spent far too long gettin back from corners and the 3rd goal was 2 half arsed attempts at tackles by 2 out of position cb's and the 1st goal was micah trying to tackle with the wrong foot so to sum up none of the goals were jacks fault and he scored 2 great goals
