Jack Rodwell

Re: Jack Rodwell

--------Rodwell --- Fernandinho --- Toure ---------

Navas ---------------- Negredo --------------- Aguero

4-3-3 would suit us perfectly IMO. Two in the middle of the park isn't working, and rodwells energy would be most welcome.

Re: Jack Rodwell

I reckon a midfield anchor of Rodwell and Fernanadinho would compliment each other and work well, both are strong, mobile, industrious and have decent footballing ability.

I dont think Yaya works well in that role,he should be further forward if selected.

Re: Jack Rodwell

I don't think Pellegrini wants to change things too much in the first few games, while they're still learning the system. Once everyone's a bit more comfortable, it'll be easier to slot players in and out of the team.

Re: Jack Rodwell

I think Rodwell will be another of those players who won't get the game time they need and will be off soon after. I think last season he showed what a good player he can be when fit but seems MP has his favourites and Jack isn't one of them.

Re: Jack Rodwell

Hopefully he gets more of a run as the season goes along. We should be getting games into him until he's ready to take over a starting place.

Its bizarre,in both our last two games, his attributes would have been ideal.

I'm sure theres good reason.

This. In a few games time, we'll see more experimentation with the starting line ups but for now, I think he very much wants a solid starting XI for now, so they learn his system much easily. It's less messy than having different players. FA Cup and the forthcoming Capital One cup tie against Wigan is where we'll see a different side.

We'll see subtle changes like Kolarov in for Clichy today but I don't see MP making wholesale changes this early in the season in Prem.

You'd hate to think its because he's British

Re: Jack Rodwell

At the moment the best thing Rodwell does, besides loosing his man at set peices, is charge off to attack leaving truly huge holes in midfield behind him. This is a classic case of the less he plays the better he becomes. He's not yet good enough to replace Fernandinho or Yaya in midfield, could *maybe* play alongside them if he has the discipline to play as a holding midfielder, but Garcia or Milner would still likely be ahead of him for this role.

The one thing he would bring at least is some heart to go and win the fucking game, something criminally lacking in the sides we've put out so far.
