Jack Rodwell

I think Rodwell will be another of those players who won't get the game time they need and will be off soon after. I think last season he showed what a good player he can be when fit but seems MP has his favourites and Jack isn't one of them.

3 games, 3 fucking games. How can you talk about Pellegrini's favourites after 3 games???

Re: Jack Rodwell

Pellegrini does seem to favour his spanish/south american players. As soon as Demichelis is in, Lescott won't be getting a look in i'm sure. :)
But i hope he will give Milner and Rodwell playing time because those 2 could be vital squad players IMO.

After the international break i'm sure there will be much more rotation.

At the moment the best thing Rodwell does, besides loosing his man at set peices, is charge off to attack leaving truly huge holes in midfield behind him. This is a classic case of the less he plays the better he becomes. He's not yet good enough to replace Fernandinho or Yaya in midfield, could *maybe* play alongside them if he has the discipline to play as a holding midfielder, but Garcia or Milner would still likely be ahead of him for this role.

The one thing he would bring at least is some heart to go and win the fucking game, something criminally lacking in the sides we've put out so far.

Agree with this.

-- Sat Aug 31, 2013 9:09 pm --

Re: Jack Rodwell

Rodwell was thje player of the match on the last gsme of last season scoring two great goals, why he was taken off on a hatrick I will never know. Let's give him some time on the pitch, he's got a good head and he's bloody fast!

Re: Jack Rodwell

Im disappointed that Jack doesn't seem to have bee given a chance this season. I think yesterdays game would have been an ideal opportunity for him to shine.
In my opinion, Hull were over running us in the midfield,...They were chasing us down when we were in possession, outnumbering us, and generally harassing us out of the game.
I would like to have seen Rodwell on the pitch to assisit Fernandihno, with Yaya pushed up top alongside Segio.
Jack Rodweels work rate, his eye for goal and tackling ability would complement Fernandihnos. Two workers, in the middle with Yaya bombing on would have offered Hull far more to contend with.
I really hope Rodwell is given his chance against Stoke. I remember his performances at the end of last season. He looks a crackin player to me, and I hope we don't end up under using him, and eventually selling him on.

Re: Jack Rodwell

if he doesnt get a chance in the next few months i think he should leave, he is good enough but for the sake of his career he needs games like sincliar and barry do. I hope he is given a chance, but so far i cant see pelle rotating his team.

Like last year when he broke and scored the wonder goal? Towards the end of last season he was making the runs Yaya couldn't be arsed making anymore.

What Pelle needs to do imo, is play 3 in the middle, hopefully Rodwell, Yaya and Fernandinho. Instruct the three of them that if one of the others is joining the forwards in attack then the others to should sit back and provide defensive cover. This is something we have been lacking since Pelle came. To easy to break against us.

Re: Jack Rodwell

Three centre midfield like RM played 2 years ago would be perfect for him. I rate him above ferdi and I also don't like it when we play 3 dwarfs up front. It's a shame for him that we paid so much for ferdi as I'm sure that is shaping selection.

He was taken off because of a realistic concern that he couldn't play 90mins without breaking down.

There may still be some management of his fitness going on. Easing him into the season gradually, giving him a longer pre season, seeing how he goes in training..
