I know what you mean but it seems like it isn't about the money in this case, we should have at least took him on pre season to see how he faired.

Have to agree with this,according to rumours he's been offered around £30,000 a week which is way to much,but they have agents who end up having clubs over a barrel,should get back to the days when they where made to clean the 1st teams boots,too many get a sniff of being near the first team or people spouting crap in their ear and they think they have made it already ...

Why is he 'dictating'? He's not signing a contract because he wants chances in a first team and is maybe willing to drop down a level to ultimately be in a better position to step up and make his mark at a top club in the future. Academy players are given very little game time in the first team at city.

If this was elsewhere we'd be applauding him but because it's our club the fault has to lie with the player?

You reap what you sow. I just hope it doesn't turn into our very own pogba scenario.

If it was about money he would have signed! He won't get more than 30k a week elsewhere. It's about first team opportunities.

Have you never taken a step down/backwards to take a step up? He's not a slave.

Do you know him? If you don't then how can you jump to that conclusion...?

Those type of statements get flogged around so often but are often bollocks. The kid is probably seeing how Pep is stockpiling attacking talents and is seemingly not done yet so for footballing reasons wants to be part of a club and environment where a fair pathway is there. He has to earn it, just like everyone, but our recent record of providing opportunities for our own kids is very poor. At the end of the day Sancho is one of the better talents in the country of his age and can rightly have belief in his abilities, and if Tottenham or Arsenal have more belief in him than us then there's a problem.
 
I'm sorry but I'm not going to start freaking out about this. Txiki and Pep are too smart to let a young talent like Sancho walk. Remember last summer, fall and winter when all the experts kept saying that Tosin was going to walk because he was unhappy about 1st team opportunities and such and look what happened this summer, he signed another contract. This is all posturing by agents and City to get the best deal for both parties. When push comes to shoves City will get it done.
 
Me too. I really struggle to give a fuck. Was offered things nobody at his age was offered anywhere so nothing we could do if he decided he wants out. If he wants to go, then fuck off. He's 17 fucking years old, he won't get a sniff of first team no matter how good he is.

This is a bit of an over reaction. This is how negotiations work, unfortunately with today's social media everything is made public. His agents have probably told City that Sancho wants this, that and the other thing or he will sign elsewhere as part of the negotiations, some blowhard heard it and went public. Highly doubt there is anything to be concerned with.

I definitely hope so. Don't have idea about kid but everybody says he is real talent. But if there's a truth about him being homesicked, asking for first team and stuff, we can't do a lot so I'm not going to bother. You can't move London/Germany to Manchester and he is not going to be included in first team at 17.
 
What is with these young players expecting to be in the first team while they're still in nappies? First tyrese campbell, leaving cos he didnt think he would get a chance. He was 15! If sancho had any brains, he would sign a deal, develop for a couple years and then make a decision.
 
Sancho is talented player but there is still a long way to go to be considered first team material. I hope he see sense and signs a new deal as there are no real guarantees at Spurs or Arsenal either.

He played for Bayern Munich 2, so they had a B team, then was promoted to first team at 17. Which sounds great... but he played 19 games over 1.5 seasons, not great, then got loaned to Leverkusen for 1.5 seasons. So even Toni Kroos had to go on loan.

Kroos came back to Bayern and became a regular at 20 years of age.

Similar kind of situation with Philipp Lahm, he went on loan for 2 years then came back to be a starter at 23 years of age. The whole loan thing isn't as uncommon as people perceive.

It just was not clear for me with that data. Lahm was on loan - but with a club that played in European competitions and he was a permanent starter for them, playing e.g. two full matches against CR7 and United in his first year. He got his first caps in that year, too, and from then on had his place in the German national team before returning to Bayern. Similar story with Kroos - he got caps before he returned. You count Khedira's first European years at Stuttgart - but not Lahm's...

I am not obsessed with getting the young ones to play too soon. But Klose has given a good interview today about him and Müller. Both were fighting against each other in the 2009/10 for the same position as Klose was used as a 10 then and not as a 9. He said that Müller earned his spot in that year against him. Van Gaal gave him the chance - but he took it with full hands and performed like this the whole season - was Bayern's best scorer in that season.

But it makes you looking at the situation of Hummels, Badstuber, Müller and Kroos - all from the Bayern academy. They are born in a period of 13 months with Hummels born in December 88, Kroos in January 90. Kroos and Hummels were brought into the squad with 17 - did not play much and saw the bench a lot - were then loaned. Badstuber and Müller finished school or made their civil duty year (instead of military) and then spearheaded the Bayern reserves in the 3rd league. All of them had their first real season in 09/10 and whereas Badstuber and Müller were starters in the World Cup, Kroos only was a substitute and Hummels was not invited.

Young ones need to play for their development. On a level they can cope with and grow. Not too big that they sit on the bench - that is a waste of time - but not too low either. Müller and Badstuber have learned a lot in that 3rd league team that was just midtable then but in which they were leading players and carried responsibility. Müller had the mentality and the help of a van Bommel who took care of him off the pitch in the first year at Bayern. Andries Jonker, van Gaal's assistant (later head of Arsenal's youth academy, right now Wolfsburg coach) told that Müller came to him in every halftime and after the match to get advise - like he got the previous year of Gerd Müller when playing for the U-team.

I do not think there is a right moment for every player - you have to look at every player separately what is best for them now. And a lot can go wrong. But if they do not get chances they cannot go nowhere. Getting loaned to clubs that do not play them does not help either - if it is not the EPL there is other countries where they might have the level and the clubs the guts to use them. They have to be in the competition for the spots - they should not play just because they are kids but if you put them into the squad you have to give them enough time to play in the easier matches (not all at one time but the older ones should be able to carry a younger one).

All of the big clubs have the same problem - the gap between academy and club level is too big. In difference to the last seasons since Alaba we have some really promising youngsters right now that really seem to be able to make it - atleast one or two of them should do it. You can see atleast that they should be able to make it Bundesliga level - that rest time will tell. That will get interesting.

I don't think they don't.

Spurs haven't used a youngster close to his age and Wenger is under so much pressure he's nog gonna risk his final legacy by playing a 17 year old.
