The story is not that he signed a new deal, it's that his contract runs out in 2023.

A lot of United fans and media folk were leaning into the idea that Dortmund couldn't afford to not sell him this summer. The 2023 contract means they'll still get full price next summer, and they can just keep him and see if other clubs join in the action in 2021, rather than the 1 club market they have now.

Yeah but realistically Dortmund won't have many offers for him next season either if the set price is over £100m. They just want the money.
