Jake Livermore Alleged Cokehead

Indeed it's idiotic...

You may be able to cope with losses, big issues in your life without abusing yourself but remind yourself there's 7bil. People on this planet and we all find our own ways of coping with issues.

I've seen far more abuse occur because of Alcohol than cocaine yet our children are constantly bombarded with alcohol advertising at sporting events.

Let's hope the lad can recover from his addiction and something positive comes from this, maybe be could help other players avoid going down the same path

Very sad that his Son died, even sadder that he's using it as an excuse for being caught using Cocaine.

You are correct it's very sad he's lost his son.

Have you never been to a funeral and got completly legless?
Think of all the negitive thoughts and traumas he's going through.
For all we know he could just be doing a line when he wakes up.
If he was a full blown alcoholic then it would be a different story.

I've posted this before, but will again.

I got divorced, made redundant, lost my Mum,Dad and Youngest sister in the space of 8 months,I'll add to it that 4 days after my Mum died,I fell off a set of ladder and ended up having a few month off work. Now when your sat at home with time on your hands, bored shitless Etc,SHIT starts going through your head, and I mean shit,or it did my head anyway.
I ended up going to the pub a lot also buying cans for in the house and was going down the wrong path completely...Luckily I managed to sort my shit out,not easy, but I did it.
I feel for this lad for his loss and I ain't interested if that brought on the use of drugs or not,he's in a bad place and I wish him the best of luck.
There is many, many people who know exactly how shit it can be,and as already stated,we all deal with it differently.
Hope he gets sorted.

As I've said before, I truly feel sorry for his loss, and, like others have said, hopes he sorts his life out.

However, he is supposed to be a professional athlete. That doesn't seem to be given a thought in all the name calling going on in the thread.

In most sports these days, you are regularly tested for banned substances, and if you fail (or in some cases, miss the test for whatever reason (ahem, Rio)), you are banned.

Even at far lower levels, there is generally a list of what medications/drugs which are allowed or not. This is usually on the wall in the clubhouse.

All "athletes" (to use the generic term) know this, and the higher the level of competition, the more likely it is you will be tested, whether it be after training or after an event.

To fail a test by taking a "recreational" drug for whatever reason, in my opinion, is unprofessional, as you know the risks involved.

On the flip side, someone who is emotionally torn and who, as you state, knows the realities of being caught, maybe, just maybe, is reaching out as a cry for help.... It's not so absurd considering, now is it?

The boy deserves a second chance here with what he's gone through, as much as I despise the FA, they've done the right thing here!!!

My mother in law died June 2009.
My wife died June 2010.
My mother died April 2011.
My only brother died July this year.

The nearest I have come to taking coke is in my Bacardi.

I have great sympathy for his loss, but please don't use that as an excuse.
Because everyone deals with everything in the exact same fucking way don't they.

People take or do all sorts as a coping strategy, some are more productive ways than others - some talk to family members, some gamble, some turn to substances. Clearly some ways are healthier, both mentally and physically than others, but no one should be judged they should be supported and helped through it

I'm sick of this bullshit judgemental attitude from the English public. He's taken a bit of fucking coke, so what? Is he tied to a contract at our club? No. Is taking drugs in and of itself morally wrong ? No. So what exactly is the problem? It's his life and his career so he can do whatever he wants.

I had four family members die in the space of three months when I first moved back to Manchester. It wasn't my 'excuse' to start taking drugs but I did it anyway because I wanted to. I've never been a big drinker so you can keep those Bacardi's to yourself. It's just funny that putting shit up your nose gives everyone the right to chastise you but if you drown your liver with shite then you're just one of the lads.

How anyone thinks they have the ability to categorise what are acceptable ways for someone they don't know to deal with the loss of someone else who we will never know is beyond me.

I'll repeat: his life, his career, his son, his coping mechanisms.

Great post fella
