Frankly, I'm not surprised if you're Erling Haaland!Got chucked out of a James concert for persistently standing up ….

Still got it. I've always seen Tim Booth as a sort of Morrissey figure, but one who isn't a bit of a ****.
My brother saw them at Albert Square for that CND meeting. He said they performed an acoustic set.I think this is my definitive James gigography
1984 Palace Theatre Supporting The Smiths
1986 Manchester Town Hall (afternoon gig)
1988 The Ritz
1998 Albert Square (Commonwealth Games closing ceremony)
1999 Heaton Park Radio 1 Big Tent thing
2008 Paradise Club Boston Massachusetts
2008 Radio City New York (supporting Squeeze)
2009 MEN Arena Manchester v Cancer
2012 Webster Hall New York
2018 MEN Arena
2019 House of Blues, Boston, Massachusetts
However..... sometime in 1985 or 86 I saw them play a free gig outside the town hall on Albert Square for CND. Mentioned those on a few James forums and no one else recalls it nor is it listed on any gigographies.... I just happened to be passing by and saw them there...... anyone else remember it?
Thanks for confirming the Albert Square gig. I kept thinking I must have imagined it as no reference to it anywhere..My brother saw them at Albert Square for that CND meeting. He said they performed an acoustic set.
My James gig list is;
1985 Platt Fields
1986 Manchester Town Hall (afternoon and evening gig)
1986 Salford Uni
1987 Green Room, Whitworth street.
1987 International 2....(with Yargo)
Three times at the Ritz between 87-88 (Man from Delmonte, Happy Mondays, New FADS.)
1990 Gmex
That were a brilliant live band.

I was just wandering around town and across Albert Square and there they were on the steps of Albert's statue with a couple of guitars

They were excellent, but have never seen them since despite buying a couple of albums...
Added to the bill late on as ticket sales not as strong as hoped for.Saw them supporting Bowie at Maine Road.
Me too. I love all that early James stuff; scarecrows, earwigs, vultures...https://www.mdmarchive.co.uk/gfx/1429/400-1.jpgView attachment 64452
That was a great day. Marc Riley & The Creepers were on top form too.
Pretty much everyone went to see James and when they finished their set the comperes came on and were begging people to stay to see Simply Red, but about 90% of the crowd headed home. Me and my mate included.
