How many times are we going to send him out on loan? He is a good player but not good enough to take us back to the top. We should try to squeeze another 4 or 5 million out of Forest and be done with it.
He doesnt need to be a superstar, not every player has to be, as a club trained player, if they're even just a decent bench option, theres immense value in them.

I also believe we have to find a better way of maxmimising revenue from the academy, we're losing out on a considerable amount with our current model of selling players cheaply who are then having a break out year and seeing their values double or triple and we're seeing very little of that.

Still having the player under contract when they have a breakout season gives us the option of bringing them back into the fold for nothing or even if they still aren't good enough for us, could see us net so much more money. I believe Mcatee will be worth substantially more than whatever we sell him for within 12 months.

We make amazing money from the academy tbf. An occasional fuck up like Palmer, but loads we got great money for yet didn’t kick on and some who disappeared
Even the Palmer thing weirdly works in our favour in some ways. Other clubs are more likely to take a gamble on a City academy lad now, hoping they get a breakout star on the cheap. It rarely comes off in reality

Well said. Our ex-Academy might have gone on to good careers but how many would get in City's first team?
Even Palmer is a fantastic talent but he's an impact player very similar to how Grealish was playing for Villa. Can guarantee Pep would try to change his style exactly like he did with Grealish.
McAtee hasn't kicked on anywhere near enough to be a regular City player.

Pep doesn't try and change players, he trys to improve them and make them work for the team but the change thing is a myth. Did he change Messi, Robben, Coman, Siva, KDB, has he changed Doku.If he trusts a player and they do the other stuff he asks,he lets them play.

Don't know much about him so what has he proven more than McAtee?
I don't know anything about Hackney. But I've watched a lot of McAtee with us and out on loan. He's not our level. He's had plenty of chances and clearly a player there but his chance with us has gone. I don't see a problem with £25m+.

Ipswich overpaying for someone else is nothing to do with us.

View attachment 164534so run this one by me again, a lad that played in the championship last season and was only a squad member for the u21s is worth about the same as the u21's captain who played in the prem last year???
How long did he have left on his contract. That’s the main reason we have to be sensible and realistic with his fee.

Well he’s got 3 times as many appearances in senior football for a start and he’s a really talented player. Got a couple Boro fan mates and occasionally watch the games.

Ranks amongst the highest for progressive carries and passes statistically across European leagues if you’re into your stats.

Really surprised he’s staying in the championship, was linked to prem moves and in Europe at Porto and Leverkusen.

McAtee had an underwhelming time on loan at Sheff U and has failed to make an impact at City, he’s not proven anything in the men’s game.

If we get £35m it’s because of the England U21 performances and City tax.

Underwhelming time?

Not sure the Blades fans agree....

The ones I spoke to saw him as a luxury player who faded out of games with the odd nice moment.

Have a read of this on the blades forum, only had to look at a few posts to see them questioning us wanting £35m, him not stepping up when it mattered, missing parts of his game and so on.

How many did you speak to ?

So Everton have had a bid of 27m for the Southampton players Dibbley! Yep the player that Southampton said fee was 100m!

Now McAtear has a far better pedigree than this kid who has done nought but be in a relegation team! So for me McAtear is worth at least 35m with 1 year left on his contract!
