James McAtee

Finished 3-3 with 99 minutes on the clock. I'm not watching but the equaliser was from the 4th corner on the trot, was it Doyle who got the assist?
Doyle took the corner, the keeper punched it out to the edge of the area and Norwood scored.

That was Michael Dawson’s take on it, so probably bullshit.

The Sheffield game you won’t see more of a Homer referee than the one today gave Sheffield everything and I mean everything

Played almost 80 minutes today and was pretty poor again. He’s not helped by the awful football Sheffield Utd play, but he doesn’t look physically up to it to be perfectly honest.

That's the main criticism I heard from Sheffield fans.

As much as we on here like to complain that Sheffields style of play doesn't suit him, the fact is he is unable to impose himself at championship level, which is worrying.

Still very early, so let's see if he can handle the physicality.

From our point of view that's (at least part of) the reason he's there? He's not getting any stronger playing U21 football.

Not going to be worry wart whether he have successful loan or not, his success is depends on whether he can learn from a setbacks and failures from his loan experience.

I rather see him fail much more often and became a stronger player later on because he already experience and learning from his failures.

I'm not talking just him but any other loanee academy player, their success is in their own hands and nobody else.

He's literally just turned 20,he is still developing while experiencing a huge jump in opposition physicality, this loan is far from perfect from a football perspective but the experience will be invaluable.

His next loan,to a more technical outfit, should then allow him to apply his new experience and push on with his game.

While the age of 20 is obviously not a seasoned veteran, it's not exactly a 16 year old either. There are countless footballers who did a lot better at this level and stronger levels at a younger age. Sure, he's young but if he has a future at man city he should be terrorizing championship level defenders at the age of 20.

he shouldn't, failing at the age of 20 should not be an indicator where his career is going to be. Plenty of player is blossoming at later age of their career, every player have their own development path. Some are peak too early, some are peak later on their career.

Another shocker today apparently and was subbed at halftime. Hopefully he’s up for the challenge of turning things around.

To be honest, I don't think @samuelyeboah is a million miles off target with his comment.

James isn't necessarily 'failing' at the age of 20, but he seems to be out of his depth playing outside of his age range. As such, it's not unreasonable to think that he may well struggle at a club in any of the top four divisions.

If he's struggling now, do you honestly see him making it at the 'elite' level required by City within the next 6 to 12 months, or even attracting interest from a top PL club?

The clock is ticking for every young player. It's a ruthless environment where there's always another kid along the line to jump ahead of the rest.

Look at our recent history of very highly rated lads going out on loan... They tend not to come back.

I think its way to harsh to judge James so soon, he played like 5-8 games in championship, a new enviroment, new city, mens football, in a system he have never played in etc... its all part of the learning curve for anyone around age 20... what that means for his future is still up in the air... we know he is a baller, but can he be a footballer... who knows now. Im waiting until he has got his feet on the ground and played a season before I make any judgement-

I agree though that he isnt doing well now, looks out of his depth, but still way to early to make long time comments on his future

This will be the making of him.

He's taken off his comfort blanket and is playing against men. I respect his bravery and I'm positive, especially with the family he has around him, that he'll come out stronger for the experience.

By the end of this season he'll be on a completely different level as a player and person.
