James McAtee

If Spurs had not got the two late goals people would be talking about his part in a plucky away win!
No point judging him or Sheffield United until Xmas imo.

I think this is a good move for him. All the experience he will get this season facing teams in the prem like against Tottenham will really help him improve.

I thought it was a poor career decision from the start, but at least you got the sense he would get decent game time in the top flight.

This Sheffield team is truly awful though and I didn't think they would be this bad.

He's never going to be able to show his ability and develop as a footballer playing with shower of shite.

Poorly advised move that's going to set him back a year - but by all accounts it seems he was the one pushing for it.

Expect their manager will be sacked after this, so hopefully a new manager bounce might put things back on course for them, otherwise it's going to be a long season for him.

Played in a team you have got beat 7-0
And he's shown absolute quality.

Gonna disagree with the majority here.

Not sure playing in a team that chases shadows the whole time is the best use of his "development time".

Leicester was by far the smarter choice.

He must have had more options than just Leicester or Sheffield Utd though.

For sure.

But if I was him, the second I heard Leicester was there and solid Madison, but kept many others, I'd have thought:

"Perfect, I can play the 10 role now in a former premier league team, I can dominate the championship and show my quality".

Don't know how he can show his quality at Sheffield.

This years Leicester is last years Sheffield United.
At least he will be playing against premier level opposition
The 3 teams that came up this season highlight the poor standard of opposition currently in the championship.

He didn't listen to the Man City hierarchy and chose Shef Utd instead of Leicester, I bet he already regrets his decision.

James is not going to benefit from playing with this lot. Just watched the Newcastle game and Sheff U were absolutely appauling. 8-0 at home to a just above average team is shocking.

Heaviest League defeat in their history. Quite chastening. We could recall him come the windowI suppose, but by that stage our injury list will have shortened, we might be out of the League Cup, and Guardiola will be working with his preferred nucleus. Wonder how many minutes he would have played by now had he stayed.

For the first 20 minutes he was arguably the best player on the pitch and Carragher was suitably impressed.

Sadly, he just couldn't get into the game once they started conceding silly goals. However, he's definitely Premier League potential.
He's a good player, but I don't see him as a Pep player, Pep wants players who keep the ball, he has a tendancy to run with it too much, and then lose possession.

I hope he does well, but I don't see it being with City.

Oh yeah I'm not disagreeing

Huge difference between Premier League standard and a typical Pep player.

We were talking about him at the game yesterday, and difference between him and the likes of Doku, Doku knows when to do the right thing to keep the ball, you can probably teach that, but I think he's a long way from that currently. Phil had it from early doors, Palmer too, but it's rare in young players.
