Not strange tbh.

When he was here and posting on social media, there was something that felt off about him, lacking humility. I believe Dinho was even put off by him in training when he had chances to go up.

Whereas someone like Bobb has virtually no social media presence, and by all accounts, like Rico, is extremely humble, and respectful to learn and grow.

These type of players in our academy are basically guaranteed to play in top league because they have talent + hard work.

Was it Braaf who allegedly refused to pick up the training balls because he thought he was too important for that?

With hindsight his list of clubs and how short a period he's spent there is telling for someone still so young.

Yep and then kicked off at Ferna who tried to set him right
Bombed back down to the EDS due to his attitude and his career has been on a downward spiral ever since

Sadly some of these " promising players " lack the common sense or self awareness , and want it all before they have done anything of note.

If they have agents, then they are being failed probably due to greed , you would hope that they try to influence anf guide them correctly.

Clearly Braaf has not listened or is just too conceited to understand the pitfalls.

Simply the fact they're in the premier league and not the championship I'd imagine. You'd rather play at the higher level and he backs himself to do so. We obviously wanted him to play under a similar style to us, and at a club we could be confident he'd make more appearances. I'm still not sure where I am with McAtee. He was excellent at academy level, a real step above. But his skillset was one where I thought he might struggle at first team level. He had a really good loan last season in terms of experience but didn't look much better for it in pre-season sadly.

Hopefully he has a good season and can come back and be a part of things, but he's probably more likely to leave as well now. You're not going to get many players who, like Foden, are willing to take their time and wait for chances. Not when they see other young players going for millions and signing big contracts with huge wages.

Good point regarding the patience and expectations of these young players, especially whilst the likes of Chelsea are throwing silly money around.

Sheff United just play such poor football, that unless he can rise above it, I'm not sure that being in the PL will be that good. He managed to rise above it at Championship level, but this could be a step too far.

Anyway no doubt his agent was only considering McAttee's best interest :)

Yeah the move to Leicester would have been much more beneficial for his chances of making it with us, but he got on well at Sheffield United and so I understand it from his perspective. He's probably thinking his chance to stay at City is likely to have gone anyway, so playing at a higher level will benefit him in the future. He's going to exercise that neck watching the ball sail over his head most of the game again. Although he had a good loan last time, it wasn't good in terms of developing the attributes he'd need at City - and I expected more from him in pre-season but his touch and control in tight areas wasn't great which is why Bobb has probably stayed and we've been happy to ship him out.

Hope it works out for him, I had thought he was destined to make it with City but it looks doubtful sadly.

Sadly starting to.look like Palmer Mark 2, a few half decent games, an endorsement from Pep and agent has all he needs for them.both.
 
Dissappointed he chose to get back to Sheffield United.

They are just gonna get destroyed in the league and I doubt he will get to show his quality enough.

Sadly I dont see a futurr with him here, Im hoping Bobb can make it though.

Yep bad bad decision by him, I feel he only went back there because he new the players and the fans loved him! This could set him back a year or two
 
McAtee whether right or wrong probably feels he's at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing top flight football, there's no such thing as a bad Prem loan move for his own progression right now even if they're relegated.

It's up to him to impress now he's made that decision on his own he's gotta back up his own judgement, this loan move should still be very beneficial no matter what happens it's not impossible he impresses even if they badly struggle.

This loan is still better than any championship loan nothing beats playing in the toughest league in the world, it's a true test of his minerals although you could draw similarities with Patrick Roberts over going against our wishes, at least he's not doing it in a league one level league below his level like Roberts did being an idiot.

There's arguments to say Ajax another rumoured move and playing UCL football might have been a test but maybe he needs the week in week out intensity, playing for a better championship team or even Ajax isn't going to give him that intensity or toughen him up as much as this move will.

That's the most important thing for James he obviously believes he has the quality he just needs to show his toughness, think he's chosen this fight because he wants the challenge of surviving and proving his work ethic hopefully it pays off. Maybe he doesn't necessarily need a fine tuning loan at a team who play good football but just tough experiences the best no.10s go through, like David Silva having loans at Segunda side Eibar or a struggling Celta Vigo in La Liga he come through both when he could've bided his time to break through.

I think he has made the right move. He’s already proven himself in the championship. He needs to develop and playing at the same level doesn’t really do that

He could have gone to Leicester and been amazing and I still don’t think he would have gotten a chance. The main reason would be because he doesn’t have experience in the premier league. This loan move gives him that.

I’d also say Sheffield United played some pretty decent football last season - I wouldn’t call them a hoof ball team.
