James McCarthy

out for virtually three consecutive months between November and February last season with hammy problems, bad sign and probably why he's up for sale
It's hard to tell isn't it. He does have his share of injuries and I wouldn't want it for either City or Mccarthy. I think he has the talent no doubt about that, better than Delph, but just a bit sceptical about his injuries that's all.

Ok,thanks.I was unaware his injuries were that problematic.

I'm beginning to think a HG midfield option isn't feasable.

I dont think his injuries are that bad to be honest. With Martinez he never rushes back players until there fully ready for the games. There was a bit in the Irish times when James was out injured and he wasnt the only Everton player to be out with Hamstring problems at that time.

Heres the link to the paper. http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soc...e-prompted-everton-s-medical-revamp-1.2059659

I think McCarthy has averaged well over 30 games a season or more in his last 4 seasons in all competitions if he moves to City with the competition for places he might only start 20 to 30 games in all competitions with rotation of players so i wouldnt worry to much regarding injuries for James.

As much as I'd like to see us with an Irish player or two in the squad and as much as I like James as a player I don't think he has enough about him as a player to make the required step up here.

To be true-to be true

The only Irish player that would compete to get into the squad from a Irish point of view is Coleman. Our fullbacks area needs improving Zabas been great but he needs better competition than Sagna.

Coleman would probably get into the squad but he's not HG so there's far better options out there.

Not for me. This one would be a case of only signing because he's home grown, but will be behind him 100% if he does come here.
