James McCarthy

One thing I don't understand about our interest in Delph and now McCarthy is that it's independent of our interest in Pogba. Lampard has been the only exit, so are we moving from 4 players in that position to 5? Goes against the two per position rule that Pellegrini likes. Unless there was more to those Fernandinho to Valencia rumours than we thought but I doubt it and would be disappointed.

If Delph knew we were bringing in Pogba and would be 4th choice at best, I'd imagine McCarthy might have similar concerns. Wish we'd stop fucking around and go get a HG keeper instead of convincing someone to be a squad player.

IMO the ideal flexible squad size should be
3 STs (Aguero, Bony, Kelechi)
5 AMs (Silva, Sterling, Nasri, KdB, Lopes)
5 CMs (Yaya, Pogba, Dinho, McCarthy, Fernando)
4 FBs (Zabaleta, Fabinho, Kolarov, Clichy)
4 CBs (Kompany, Mangala, Denayer, Demichelis)
3 GKs (Hart, Willy, Wright)

In addition to some reserve team players who could step in if needed.

Giving you the flexibility to play 4-4-2, 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 with cover in each position.

I think I'd rather we gave some younger players games rather than going for average players of big wages. Denayer, Evans or Bryan could step in. We only get lumbered with players we can't move on otherwise. I think Denayer could do a decent job in defensive midfield.

Have we actually been linked to this guy? I've seen some articles, but they're all more recent than the start of this thread. It's almost as if the only research professional journalists do is sit at a computer look at rumours fans come up with.

Forgetting about milner?

That's a bloody stupid thing to say. Have you seen how bad the other 10 players on the field were?

McCarthy is a very competent cog in a machine and if put in our middle he'll do a hell of a job.[/QUOTE]

He has never imposed himself at international level and is not near good enough for us.
You're the only Irish supporter on here that things he's worth the risk, maybe it's you that needs
to stop with the stupidity.
