James Milner

You're seriously underrating him if you don't think the top teams would come in for him. He is versatile, he can run none stop, he can pass he can shoot and he's English so would help fill the homegrown quota as well. I think all except Chelsea would be in for him.

Given the right amount of opportunity Jimmy would surpass Fern and I rate him highly. Jimmy's got the stamina and determination and skill to play there with ease. Feel sorry for him that he doesn't really get the opportunitys he deserves. Hope he stays, honest as the day is long and wouldn't hold the club to ransom in any contract talks. Need 2/3 more Milner types in the squad and we'd walk the lot every season.
Never in a million fuckin years ,love players like him.Attitude, commitment, etc etc spot on but he's not in the same class !

Seems to play better for us when he's out on the left as opposed to the right. Thought he was average/poor in the first half yesterday yet when switched to left after Navas came on he played well.

I like Milner but Fernandinho is on another level

I like Milner, think he's a good player and have got a lot of admiration for his attitude and workrate. And I'd be disappointed to see him leave. But I don't think it's too difficult to see why he hasn't had more starts - Yaya and Fernandinho will always start in the centre of midfield, and Milner isn't really good enough to play in there in a two. Then he's competing with Silva, Nasri and Navas for one of the wider/more advanced midfield positions, and the first two are clearly ahead of him. Add in the fact that Pellegrini likes to play with two up top, and it's difficult for him to get decent game time. Shame for him, perhaps, but not too surprising.

Totally agree with this. He's a great character to have at the club as a squad player, and I hope he stays at the club for many years in that capacity.

However, I think he's the most overrated City player of the modern era.

If we put Milner up for sale, which clubs do you think would be interested in buying him? Bayern? Barca? Chelsea? Personally, I don't think so. In fact, he wouldn't start for any of the top 6 or 8 teams in the PL. He'd end up signing for someone like Newcastle, Stoke or West Ham.

The same couldn't be said of Yaya, Silva, Nasri and Fernandinho. All the tops clubs in Europe would be lining up if they became available.

well i see your point....ofcourse bayern - barca will not be coming for him...but come on , he will gobbled upon by a liverpool , spurs , even arsenal....

i will most likely be wrong...but can see him starting against rags...seem to remember he played against them away for the last 2 years

He did and played brilliantly both times.

WOW

wtf_workaholics.gif

Funny, with in the space of 3 posts someone has said "wow" to him being overrated, and another one has said he's better than Thomas Muller! ;-)

I dont get why people think he will leave or we will sell him?

He appears happy with his lot, he should be going the WC and he is winning medals. So he dosent play every week but im positive he is a much admired and integral member of our squad
