Just think Pellegini does't rate English players. Sent out Gaz Baz on loan when he could do as good if not better than Garcia. don't think Joe will be first choice next season. I love Milner and hardly ever has a bad game, would hate to see him go

Barry's on big wages which the club wanted to get off the books for this season, plus Garcia can cover at centre-back, so that decision probably wasn't to do with Barry's nationality.

There is no valid footballing reason to chose Garcia over Barry, it is obvious based on nationality. he's also selected Garcia at centreback ahead of Lescott this season. There is an agenda to colonise the club, it's glaringly obvious. Permanent staff throughout the club have also been offered free Spanish lessons.
Sorry just spat my brew over the monitor. I'm sure you're sincere in your belief but this is as wrong as it is funny.

I struggled to find this thread yesterday whilst Blue Moon was on melt down, glad someone has got this thread back on the first page where it belongs.

I have defended Pellegrini all season, and I still do. But my biggest disappointment with Pellergrini is not seeing - yet again - Milner on the starting line-up. I can totally understand that there is matches where it is best not to start him. But there have been numerous matches where it's been crying out for a bullish player and Milner has has always been the answer. He is either brought on when we are chasing the game, or it's too late.

People can go on all they want about players like Silva (quite right too) but you need bullish players too.

I really hope Milner stays next seaosn.

100%. Milner has shown time and again that he is a big match player and he is a perfect fit for the showier players like Silva and Toure (not that he's any slouch in the creativity department himself). He would be my starter every day of the week, with Navas there as a last 20-25 min sub to inject width and pace if are struggling to break down the opposition.

Always said he's not a right winger. Plays well left wing and centre mid. Very strange player but easily our best man tonight. Actually, silva was a close second!

Should start him in yayas forward role for the next few games...

He's been more effective this year playing out wider and inter-linking with Silva and Zabaleta (and occasionally on the left side with Kolarov as he did against Bayern). I'd start him over Navas.

Was top notch yesterday I actually said we should Of started him instead I navas coz we needed someone to put here foot in and get hold of the ball. Always a 7/10 player every game no matter what.

Yep...you know exactly what performance you are getting from Jimmy. In the away games against the 'bigger' teams in the league he should definitely start for me.
If you're playing relegation fodder at home then Navas offers slightly more of a threat to open teams up with his pace.

Been wasted for most of the season. When he's been picked, he's done well. He should have played more often. It's obvious Pellegrini would rather play Navas.(nothing against him) I can see Milner leaving at the end of the season if he thinks or knows he won't feature much again next season. City will no doubt get at least one new midfield player next season.

just wondering...does anyone have any stats on how many games Milner has been involved in this year?

Probably plays more minutes than expected as involved in most games off the top of my head but doesn't get the recognition or the starts in the games when the first choice team is picked.

Munich away, Manure 1-6 Jimmy played a big part.

Away from home he should always be ahead of Navas!

Interesting stat:

he started only 8 league games for us out of 32 this season and won only 3 of those. Small sample but Pelle can have a feeling that when he started him we mostly didnt win. Of course it could be complete coicidence and nothing to do with Milner we lost those games not like he cost us those games, but an interesting stat.

Came on from the bench 17 times, so was playing in 25 games out 32. but mostly from the bench. Given the fact we used two strikers big part of the season, it was 4 players for 2 position, Silva, Nasri, Navas, Milner, and in this line he is 4th choice. While silva is never on bench when he is fit basically. But still Milner and Silva together seems to have more magic than any other duo of these 4 players.

To be honest in Milners place I wouldnt be optimistic about his playing time would improve a lot next season. Unless there are big injuries.

Spot on, especially against the bigger teams, very underestimated player.

I would personally think Navas and Milner would make us more solid in tight games ... Navas works extremely hard when we don't have the ball, I have no problem with him on the right and Milner on the left in games where we may not dominate possession

I will make this hypothetical assertion: If Milner , like Yaya, Silva, Kompany was considered as an automatic first team player as perhaps he should be, and started as many games as the aforementioned players, we will be in a better position than we are at the moment. I am certain about that.

Unfortunately the manager tends to favour the latin players....and Nasri and has not given Milner as much opportunity as he should have.

Let me tell you something. James Milner has improved immensely over the past 2 years and is now a top class player, better than Navas and I will start him over Nasri as well because not only does he offer more than Nasri in terms of work rate, versatility, he also has a strong constitution and will never bail out on the team.

Look at the FA cup against Chelsea, the Champions league against Bayern even at the Nou camp, Milner was stand out in all those games.

Underrated and undervalued.

So Pellegrini should get him in there for the rest of the games this season as one of the important players in the squad, even captain material and he is certainly a player that will be important for the future years as long as the manager can see it.,

Wonder if we will keep him. I'm not so sure.

I rate him bit one year left on contract so could be another casualty of the summer clearout.

Agree with you about Nasri (even tho I like him) but i hope to God we keep hold of Milner

He would be in my team every week based on the squad we currently have, certainly before Navas

I think we would be daft not to offer him a new deal especially given the fact that he is English and fills part of a quota

Like ive said before, i think every club in England would love to have him in their squad

That's true. Also when United were good be was a stand-out player in both Old Trafford derby wins.

For me, 8 starts from 32 games is criminally under using a very very good player.
