James Stannage

Paul Nolan a top bloke underneath the surfice, he has entertained me no end the past 20 years and anyone who can wind a rag up the way he can is alright in my book, though to this day he still has a picture of himself and George best hanging above his mantle piece, he was a staunch red untill the late 70s then turned from the dark side and travelled the country watching anyone, yes he's a loud mouth but he knows more about football than anyone ive ever met, and that includes ex pro's........ Linking this with stannage, was a fantastic show in early 90s and the banter before all this political correctness was brilliant, the amount of times I've heard of Nolan and stannage fighting in the street i'd need 10 sets of hands.

I think it was fat chance refering to mr Williams earlier in thread, one thing I will tell you Paul is a Great survivor, and the reason he hasn't had his head caved in is simple, he knows the right people, and alot of people have time for the bloke, me included.

That said, it can't be denied that he is a pig ugly fuck dog.

Paul Nolan - a Manchester legend.

There is not a City fan alive who can do what Nolan does to a United fan.

A pioneer, the greatest wind-up merchant I have ever known.

Even conned Richard and Just on This Morning once, scamming Dr Raj Persaud.

I've been in many scrapes down the years as a result of our friendship.

But just because you leave Moss Side, doesn't mean you should forget your mates and the guys who aren't fortunate enough to get out.

Paul is one of those less fortunate. A clever lad, knows football better than any person I have dealt with.

Sure, he's a big mouth, but it's all for effect, to wind up manure.

He could have been a major personality if he just knew how to behave in polite company.

Him and Stannage were a dream team.

People have his back, so just in case you think it's wise to shut his mouth, they should ask themselves why he isn't dead already.

I've known both Stannage and Nolan for years.

Not seen Stannage for a while. He used to drink in the Seven Oaks.

Saw Nolan in The Ape the other week. He caused mayhem. As usual. Running round the pub telling everyone he had John Terry on the phone. Mad as a box of frogs!

Hi there,

I have been lurking this great forum for a few days and I came across this thread.

I used to live in manchester in the mid to late nineties and now I am back here again after living in Egypt for a few years. When I was in manchester I went to watch city a few times at main road. My first match was arsena at mroadl in 1995 which if i don't remember wrong city lost 0-1 ian wright scored.

When I was here in the nineties I used to listen to James' show and I remember this paul nolan geezer ringing up constantly winding up yernited fans. I also used to ring in the odd time. I am glad to notice that P Nolan is still alive and well (I thought the MIB would have got him by now).

There was also another listener called flat cap mike or something like that, a city fan who was always boasting how much money he had in Dubai and stuff like that.

Whats happened to the whole piccadilly radio sport setup? I loved listenting to the city commentaries on a sat afternoon.

remember him?

You can still see James hanging round the pub on the corner of Corporation and Miller St most nights. He hosts a quiz on Thursdays too I think.

Used to love listening to him on 103, but as others have said, his MO show is embarrassing baby.
