Surely keep Eddie for one more season and Trafford comes in as no2 with a view to taking Eddie's mantle.Ortego goes to make way and free up wages,My take on it.
I agree 100percentIt's a gamble tantamount to putting all chips on one number and daring the wheel to be spun.
Placing an unproven young keeper at the 1 is a really dumb and misguided choice that i simply don't believe we are dumb and misguided enough to make.
Courtois, Casillas, Buffon... Trafford. Which one doesn't fit.Chelsea did it with courtois. Real with casillas. A strong Parma with Buffon. A strong Milan with Donnarumma.
I think the GK gamble is a bit overrated. Costa had 2 bad seasons in my eyes and we would get fleeced again by Porto. Rather have Trafford and Ortega fight for Number 1 than Costa who might not even turn out to be a big upgrade.
The real deal like Suzuki isn’t interesting enough I guess.
Theoretically the club can gamble on it. We are in a rebuild after all. If he ain’t it you can still sell since he’s homegrown and young.
Depends if Pep is happy with it though.
I have no idea if Trafford is the one or if he's good enough happy to leave it to the club.I do think though we might be in a situation where Ederson has made it clear if he stays he isn't extending and maybe we just think the keeper we want to replace him whether it's Trafford or anyone else isn't going to be available in 12 months. Is it only me who is a bit meh about this?
Has Eddie really gone that bad he wants out or he's being told he's off?
Maybe I've not seen enough of the kid Trafford.
Is he any good?

You must have missed the bit where I said he'd get dropped if that was the case. So many seem to have made their minds up he's not going to be good enough. I suppose all those watched him week in week out last season to come to that conclusion.Because we can afford him not being "up to it" and throwing away another season.
Chelsea with Cortois? He was on loan in la liga with Atletico Madrid for three seasons and one of the best keepers in la liga along with been belgiums number one before he kicked a ball for chelsea.Chelsea did it with courtois. Real with casillas. A strong Parma with Buffon. A strong Milan with Donnarumma.

If the club are into him then thats kool and the gang.I know it’s not much of a sauce but the 93:20 podcast lot and Sam Lee said that a lot of people at City are high on Trafford. They really like him.
I just think it’s that Ederson has 12 months left, Trafford would’ve been off to Newcastle this window which means we would have no chance of getting him next summer.
So the club are acting now.
Going into the season assuming Trafford is more up to it than Ortega- slotting him in at the 1 then having him not be up to it 5 games or so in... dropping him and pushing Ortega between the sticks for the remainder.... the same Ortega no one here thinks is remotely up to it: it's a ridiculous idea. You must have missed the bit where I said he'd get dropped if that was the case.
You don’t get it. Their names weren’t that big before joining. Or did the other clubs see the future?Courtois, Casillas, Buffon... Trafford. Which one doesn't fit.
Maybe i can see the future and am willing to bet he will not be in that tier come 10 years. You don’t get it. Their names weren’t that big before joining. Or did the other clubs see the future?
You sure pep?I'm not from Barcelona.
If we sign him with the intention of being number 1 you can forget the title right now. The transfer strategy over the last 2 years has been fucking appalling.Standards continue to slip.
I don't think Trafford is the answer either. It is a huge leap between the two. The best bet is moving Ortega instead.Who is? Name me a keeper who’s as good at distribution as ederson.
Ederson is 31 as well and there aren’t many young keepers that are the finished article
I mean that's more likely than not. That still doesn't refute the original point. Using your logic, you'd never have taken a punt on them until they'd proven it to your required standard.Maybe i can see the future and am willing to bet he will not be in that tier come 10 years.
Doesn't make any difference. Ederson is still a valuable player (especially under Pep) and he doesn't seem to be itching for a move. Far from being nonsense. He has 1 year left on his contract, if he stays it's to get a bigger signing on fee or because he hasn't found a club willing to pay, not because of his desire to stay. His interviews were a veneer of nonsense
I wouldn't be against selling Ortega and keeping Ederson with Trafford.I mean Ederson + Trafford would be great as a goalkeeping unit. With Bettinelli as the new Carson (we cannot replace him).
Similar way to what Arsenal had with Raya/Ramsdale a couple seasons ago — with the better goalkeeper quickly becoming apparent.
