I've listened to it too. Thanks for that.

What he says is fairly generic. The question is framed in such a way to suggest it, and they are almost looking for him to say that, but he stops short of it, and talks about the top level as a general concept. Rightly so, because why would he disrespect burnley, or close down future options.

But I agree, there is probably a part of him that does want it, he is just being sensible in not saying it.

I do think people are making the assumption too readily, and there is nothing real to back it.

Time will tell though, might all happen in the next couple weeks.
He says 'go back' then adds after a moment to 'to wherever I end up' - so even a month ago it was in his mind.

Bazunu is a very good keeper.
Injury has halted his career. Was Ireland no 1 keeper, ahead of Kelleher and Travers.
Not sure if he will ever recover full fitness.
I think he's a better shot stopper than Trafford but Trafford's overall game and decision making may be better.
I think you are all missing the point. It doesnt matter if bazunu was unfortunate or not. none of us would be saying to bring him back right now because he is not the required city quality. not everyone who's good and talented end up making it.

Ederson got 4 assists in the prem last season the most in history in one season of english football for a keeper, so to say his passing ability isnt used half as much as it was is not correct.
Assists are great but it’s saving shots which keepers are judged on and ederson has not been great for a good sseason now . Don’t get me wrong he has been great for us but he needs to move on as we need fresh blood . Trafford would be a great signing for us .

It's a lovely story if he comes back.
He is a young keeper, and would be playing at the highest levels under intense scrutiny.
He would need support, and the patience to let him develop.
He knows how we play.
He has done well at the lower levels and, I think, conceded the fewest goals in Championship history. If not, he was close to it.

I think as fans we are going to have to be patient with this team. We have a lot of project players in this squad at the moment.

If this is the route the club are going down then so be it.

I'm just replying to your post that where you said he didn't impress.
He was playing well until he got injured and has had a lot of injury since.
Played very well for Ireland and was their international player of the year and made several top class saves including saving a penalty from Ronaldo.
I'm not sure if he was ever at the level required for a top 6 Premier league club but I would rate him as definitely at Ortega level.

He does sound like a bit of a yokel though. Engaging but quite slow moving.

Agree completely. Ederson has been crucial to our success this last decade absolutely no denying that. But the vast majority of teams these days don’t even press him, they sit back in an organised formation and counter us because that’s what works. He’ll chip in with the odd ‘wow’ long ball assist now and again but I barely even notice his footwork most games because it’s basic stuff.
Early Pep era teams used to press us high and his footwork was invaluable, I’m not so sure it’s that crucial anymore, and his actual core goalkeeping ability has left a lot to be desired recently imo

Most teams dont press us exactly because Ederson is in net. His presence alone is enough to completely counter an entire gameplan. It was the same as having a prime kyle walker and so teams didnt even bother to play balls over the top for their left winger to chase. He is so good at not just beating any press but exploiting it and getting regular assists that the only response is to just not do it at all which gives our already shaky suicidal backline some breathing space.

People dont recognise how vital that has been to our success. The second we dont have Ederson in net, you'll see a return of teams legitimately employing a high press against us and you'll see a return of the regular fuck ups costing us goals that we saw before we had Ederson.

We cannot successfully play Peps current brand of football without Ederson. Now presuming he doesnt persist with something thats no longer viable, some might say a forced change of tactics, might actually benefit us but thats a different conversation.

Trafford is well able to pass the ball
