ok TMQ, I can't really make out the argument here that clearly, so sorry if i've got the wrong end of the stick. you seem to be saying that the two artists represent two different cultures that are being fed to two different races. that's just bonkers, and I'll tell you exactly where your argument falls down. 50 cent sells the vast majority of his records to white suburban males.

Yes but 50 cent is what suburban white males think of black people, he's a gangster, he's a pimp, he's a bad ass basically and that will always appeal to a young white safe audience. Always.

Actually as a white male, i cannot stand all that bullshit, i think 50 Cent is ok to listen to sometimes because he makes some decent tunes.

Yeah but you aren't a 14yr old suburban kid are you? As a young lad (8-14) I really liked Cypress Hill, NWA etc as they were exciting and new and I scoffed at my older cousins who were into more pure hip hop as I found it boring whereas now it's vice versa really.

Personally I think 50 cent is awful but each to his own.

Wow. Another thread dominated by the clueless. Hey, *****, tell me what it's really like living over here. Fucking CLUELESS.

edit: sorry, but two weeks in Orlando and watching the BBC (Pravda lite) qualifies you as a ****, simple. You have NO FUCKING IDEA you arrogant wannabe twats. Just shut the fuck up about the U.S..

All my points have concerned corporate and Black America, I've not made generalizations about either simply stated facts. You don't need to live somewhere to take an interest.

One crucial factor helped him on his way. The linking up with Eminem and the constant dropping of his name. If Em had stayed in the background, do you think Fiddy would have had the same effect?

Nah, cos he'd have been 'just like the others'! Why do you think 'The Game' jumped on that little gold mine!

It's truly ironic!

Your crazy man.

Many men, many many many many men - choooon

50 cent is commercial due to his soft hooks with a "naughty" vibe thrown in for the kids. well that and his association to Eminem

Fiddy was commercial from the get go. Nearly all lyricists turn commercial at least for a few tunes coz thats where the money rolls in. Even Talib Kweli has put in a few commercialise tunes, Common also.

I spent my high school years listening to Dr Dre, Nas, Ludacris, DMX, Snoop Dog ect but didn't go around with my hands in my pants or, pants showing my boxers or any of that shite but i know what you mean, i knew plenty of "wigga's" as they were called or probably still are now.

Exactly my point sire. Who wants to be an intelligent cultured guy when you can be the ultimate bad ass? It's the name of the game, sadly.

yes, i believe it is.

on a wider point I don't understand what this thread is about anymore. the first three pages didnt make any sense, but they were definately about Jamie Foxx. what are we talking about now? hip-hop? what has that got to do with Jackson? TMQ is talking bollocks, but why? I agree with much of the detail, but I can't make out the 'conclusion', so why am I upset by it? what the fuck is this argument? And why am I bothered? Brucie, how can something so inane be upsetting you so much? really, I'm very very confused here.

Yeah and I've no problem with the Common's of this world opting to be commercial but it is worth noting that he goes commercial by making commercial music not by demeaning his whole race by playing the 'dumb n word' role that the companies would prefer. We both know Common, as talented as he is, would be very successful had he flashed a bit more gold, shot a few people on record and perhaps gang raped some 'ho'.
