Jamie Redknapp, Last Season, Title

While Redknapp Jnr is an undoubted **** of the highest order, what I read from his comment is that we won the title despite Balotelli. its hard to disagree with that.

His performances and attitude especially during the run-in were completely counter-productive to what the rest of the squad were trying to achieve.
If it wasn't for the fact he generates mildly amusing headlines for being a windowlicker, which for some reason gloss over the fact he is consistently shit at his job (despite his mythical "potential") with large portions of the media and a chunk of City fans, he would have been fucked off a long time ago.

You can say we won the title in spite of him if you want (although he scored the opening goal in the 6-1 and set up Aguerooooooo but whatever) but I don't think you can blame the sending off at Arsenal for potentially losing the title. The game was more or less over when he was gone.

He wasn't consistently shit for us last season by any means.

If you can't see his potential then you're not looking close enough.

Look at the way he shoots when he gets the ball. People say he could be like Drogba, but honestly I think he'd be more like RvP at his best.

Now look at how RvP started life in England. His first 2 seasons he had a strike rate of about 1/5. He wasn't top dog at that time, but neither is Balotelli now and he's got a strike rate of about 1/2.5 at 22 years old.

The media's problem with Balotelli is down to him saying Jack who? when was asked the question about Wilshere shortly after he joined us from Inter.

BANG ON THE MONEY

You really mean that don't you?

I would say their problem is the fact he cost £24m and has done fuck all in return, relatively speaking.

Regarding Redknapp, he's just a dimwit who craves the approval of his fellow pundits about everything he says, in particular Souness. I long for the day he says 'don't you think Graham?', and Souness just shakes his head and does as 'shu' motion with his hand.

Inappropriate to single out Mario in the Arsenal game when the whole team was poor and we looked anything but potential champions. He made a decent contribution to the title winning season (the breakthrough goal v Everton at home, the goal that got us back in the game v Sunderland at home, the assist to Aguero v QPR to name a few things) as did the rest of the squad. This season has been a disaster for him however, the awful performance v United and the subsequent unprofessional attitude in training means he is unlikely to start at the moment. Redknapp has a particular dislike for Balotelli - that much is clear - and does nothing to hide it in his media appearances.
This board like many people in life love their scapegoats. They need them because if you give them something with more than two moving parts, they melt down.

Three of our four strikers last season had moments that could have cost us the title even though two of them had their pissy little tantrums in a Champions League match. We don't hear about that as much any more because people have moved on to yet another The Real Reason We're DOOMED.

I felt embarassed for him on the day having to sit alongside two highly-decorated ex-professionals. He only needed a green prickly suit.

Regardless if I had played the game or not, I would feel uncomfortable giving forthright opinions when sat alongside two blokes who had won all domestic honours plus a couple of European Cups between them.

Did he ever win anything?
Was he in the cream suited team that beat Wanderers in the Milk Cup final?

This is not an media agenda issue, but you are also right in saying Balotelli has not lived up to his billing. you can't argue the English press like to hype up English talent to the max, and his statement on Wilshere hasn't won him too many favours with the media. As for Redknapp jnr you are right about him not being to insightful and always seeks approval, but in my opinion he is right about Mario. If he is still here when the window shuts, then he will get my backing.
