January defenders

Not seen or heard of any links, but Domingos Duarte, Portuguese, CB at Granada who are currently top of La Liga after today’s win. 6 clean sheets in 10 and an ever present at CB. Watched Granada last week against Osasuna and he was a mountain at the back. A clean passer of the ball, composed at the back and @ 1.91m gives us the height assurance many fans would like. Already got 2 goals for Granada too.

Came up through Sporting Lisbon academy and after a couple of loan spells joined Granada this summer for €2.25m, could be a potential bargain for January if we decide to get a CB in.

What about Sandler at Anderlecht? Don't know if he's good enough, but it would be a cheap option. I think his contract is up at the end of June, so City need to show him a career path in January anyway.

Ake and Soyuncu would be upgrades on Otamendi. I believe Stones has the greatest ability out of the three but his poor concentration is disconcerting.

I know there's something to be said for being Premier League proven, but I feel as though we can save a lot of money for value by looking for options elsewhere in Europe.

Jonathan Tah - 6ft5, strong, fast, good at playing out from the back. Even sounds a bit like Kompany.

Guarantee if he came running at a player they'd shit bricks. He could add that physical dominance we need in a CB which would allow Stones, Garcia etc to play their natural game knowing he'd cover them. That's not even considering him next to Laporte.

Good shout. Surprised we haven't seen a top six side in for Tah up to this point. You'd think his physicality would be ideal for the Prem.

He seems prone to the odd mistake but the pure threat of him, combined with us dominating possession should be a good combination. Would help defending corners as well.

Something seems to be putting big clubs off him. He burst on to the scene at 19, and since then there's been 8 or 9 massive transfers for young CB's and no one has gone after him - Bayern have even bought 2 CBs without looking at him, a young German CB in the National team picture.

Who knows? He’s only 23, still young for a CB. He seems pretty loyal and Leverkusen are a good team, so it could just be him getting consistent game time. A lot of top CBs weren’t at top clubs when they were 23.

Also, this could work in our favour. Don’t think he’d be hugely expensive.

Honestly don’t think we are in the market for one this season. The best prospects will all have stupid money attached to their names, especially in Jan window.

Stones & Laporte
Otamendi & Fernandinho
Hardwood-Bellis & Garcia

Next season, I expect Otamendi to be gone, but with Rodri as another stop gap, Walker in a pinch, and the ability to play a back 3, as we went to late in the game tonight, I just feel like the club don’t want to spend £50M on some young prospect when we are going to need a world class striker and left winger next season!

We will need AT LEAST one striker to take over from Sergio within next few seasons, Sané looks to be gone in all but name on the top of paycheck.

At this point, Pep and the club appear to be on a REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE, as the squad is very well rounded. New faces are required to keep the players hungry, but with the prices of players these days, two world class players means £150M, unless you catch one of them the minute before they make that step, as we did with Jesus.(What a fucking STEAL that boy was!!)

Anyway, anything less than a young (U-25, if not younger) established quality CB, with two quality feet and some size, under £50M and I don’t think we are interested.

Garcia looks the business to me. If they could rack him and put another 2 inches on him, he would be a like for like with Laporte. That’s as high of a compliment as I can make.

Stones just back from injury will be a couple of weeks for top form
Laporte injured hopefully early January
Ottamendi awful
Fernandinho banned and the next one a couple of weeks away
Hardwood-Bellis at least a years loan away
Garcia at least a years loan away
we will most likely go for the lad at Benfica but Konate at Red Bull was playing well Ajar at Celtic is going to be very good probably at Liverpool Milenkovic will be a monster probably at Juve , we need a quality 3rd choice that much stands out like a sore thumb , January is the time to buy as none of our competitors will be in the market but also because we have Fernadinho who will give them time to bed in

Not happening, and your analysis is weak, IMHO. It might help if you could spell Nico’s name, too.

Maybe not in January but I do expect Otamendi to be moved on in the summer and expect City to bring in one replacement then. That will leave us with Laporte, Stones, new CB, Garcia and THB moving forward.

Oh that hurt, personalty i thought your putting 2 youngsters in the first team ` a necessity with bans and injuries` a bad idea, you remember what happened the last time we put youngsters in at CB. Savic and Nastasic have both fully developed now and are playing very well,
But City will buy because we did go in for De Ligt and Maguire and circumstances have become more critical, oh by the way the lad at Fiorentina was very good yesterday obviously he is playing first team football regularly and is commanding his defence
