January transfer window

I can't think of any Right Backs who can fill in and who is available. It is a tricky window and already Chelsea are getting their business done early.

I know its been mentioned in half jest but we could do worse than bring Trippier back, low wages and I suspect happy to play second fiddle to Zaba.

If we want better quality, then Coleman or maybe Clyne.

Decent choices FI or I will get laughed at here but how about Lass Diarra?

LMAO.

Reading the last two or three pages we need to spend big again in Jan because we have one or two injuries or because we don't have world class players to cover for world class players.

One would hope that the short, medium and long term transfer business is based on a more thoughtful strategy than most of the rubbish posted above.

So we have drawn Barca in the chumps league, so we need to sign such and such..... what tosh.

Txiki suggested today we wouldn't do much business in January, saying he's happy with the squad, but he was slightly coy and seemed to want to change the subject.

Chelsea are ahead of City for Zouma now, too.

I hope he's lying. If Joe doesn't improve, are we really going into Barcelona with Pantilimon?

He's done a great job when you consider he's a backup and wasn't bought to start every game. But I just can't see him starting against Messi and friends. They have scored only 3 fewer league goals than we have. We need a keeper who erases near-certain goals in that sort of fixture.[/

Id rather we have an impregnable back four than relying on the keeper. Both Joe and Pants do decent enough jobs bar concentration issues. We really need an RB and a DM cover for the Fernandinho. An improvement in firepower would also be great with an new AM which can be that one marquee January signing.

Angel Di Maria or Marco Reus but cup tied.

No need for a right back imo. If we sign a backup, once Richards finds his fitness we'll be back to the situation we had last year with three players fighting one position. Milner and Boyata can do a job there if needs be.

Dont get the obsession with wanting a new CB, personally I think any defender would look poor in our system given the amount of space between defence and midfield. This will improve as players get used to Pelles tactics, they just need time. Kompany, Demi, Nastasic and Lescott is more than enough cover.

Cant see anything happening in Jan, had a feeling Dzeko might leave after the Plzen game but I thought he looked much better against Munich and could still well be an important squad player till the end of the season. It wouldnt surprise if he did leave in Jan though if a good offer did come in.

Only position we desperately need to strengthen imo is central midfield. A proper world class CM would complete our squad but I suspect the likes of Vidal, Gundogan etc won't be available until the summer.

Although its a bit risky I would like to see more faith in youth rather than spend more money on signings. Something Chelsea have failed to do after investing millions in their youth development. Rekik and Denayer will hopefully be important squad players next season once Lescott leaves in the summer. Lopes could also do a job on the left.

Vidal just signed a long term contract so we would have to spend probably double what we spent on Fernandinho as Juve want to keep him as long as possible. Gündogan would be a great realistic option in the summer.

The thing about the CB position is we need to get younger with players on the cusp of becoming world class. Zouma is that perfect mold. MDM & Lescott aren't getting any younger. After Kompany and Nas, Rekik will come back from loan but we need that next CB.

I don't share that opinion mate. The way Pellergini wants the fullback's to operate rules out Boyata. Milner possibly.

In reality we have only one option for the right FB position, and that is Zabaleta. No matter how impressive his attitude and stamina is, he will break down eventually if played all the time.

We need a reliable and capable alternative, and we simply cannot rely on the fragile giant that is Micah. Nathaniel Clyne would be a great option, but I figure Txiki and Manuel might have other names in mind.

And it needs to be done in January already.

And then in the summer I hope we let go of Kolarov and bring in Shaw.
