The next cm we get in needs to be top class, no point in buying these squad players because they are not good enough. Someone with trust to play in big games and smart enough with the ball.

The most needed positions are a top cm and a non injury prone rb.

It's all been said before, we should have strengthened with quality the summer after we won the
League, probably would have retained it if we had but I guess getting rid of Mancini was more important...

Bumped into Txiki on Sunday afternoon at Hugo Boss in town.
As others who have met him will testify, what a generally down to earth bloke and surprisingly open when thrown a couple of cheeky questions.
Thanked him for the job he is doing and told him it was the best football I have seen since first started watching them 30-odd years back.
He was kind enough to say that it is always nice to hear things like that but warned the hard work this season starts now.
Seemed generally interested and joked with my wife and brother-in-law.
Asked him about January, he said 'maybe, maybe one or two'
- he didn't ask me who we were signing;)
Thought it rude not to throw in Messi.
Said he will always try to get the best and Messi might not always be a Barca player so we can always dream.
Wished him a happy new year and he replied 'I hope, yes?'
Met a lot of people in this game but nobody who you could say would probably have a pint with and just chat footie for hours.

Is Michael Essien good any more? His agent has stated he could leave in January, and he has only started 2 games for Chelsea this season. Mikel, Ramires, and Lampard all first choices above him. I haven't seen him so I don't know if he would be a good back up but I'm sure he would be happy to play as a back up as long as it is more than he played at Chealsea. He would also most likely be pretty cheap.

No, he's woeful and has been for a while. He's pretty much the perfect example of what happens to an incredibly physical midfielder when they lose their physicality, they become useless. If he can't get in Chelsea's piss poor midfield then he really shouldn't be anywhere near ours.
