January

We just need creative cover, another keeper if Given leaves, maybe another striker depending on how Jô and RSC do, and just to cover any departures/injuries if we have any come January. Preferably 24 years old or under seeing as they will be backup/fighting for their place.

But I say that if a mega man becomes available we should still go for it as it could be alot harder to do so next year.

And after comments made today it looks like Shay will be leaving probably on loan. Not sure though, because he won't leave on a season long loan, whether we can insert a 24 hour recall clause, if we can then there's no need to bring in a replacement.

I am 100% sure City's will spend, and spend a considerable amount, on new players in January:
1) It's the last window before Platini's new Fair Play rules go into full effect next summer (clubs won't be able to spend what more than they make)
2a) If City is in the top 4, the motivation will be that City need to buy to to stay there or even make a push for a better position
2b) City's out of the top 4, the motivation will be that City need to buy to make up the lost ground and get into the top 4

Now, the players City will go for are most probably from the Champions League teams. So, what players City will be able to lure will depend on City's league position and on which teams have gone out of the Champions League, and where these teams are in the respective leagues (i.e. chances of playing CL football next season). It will be extremely difficult to prise a player from a team that advanced to knockout stages in Champions League. The higher City are in the table in January, the more pull City will have on the players as we offer the possibility of CL football next year. Therefore, "It is most important" that City remain in the top 4 until January.

I think if we're in a good run of form we won't pick up any more than 2 new players, barring major injury- a new backup keeper and a striker. Don't want to ruin team chemistry and morale by sending some players even further down their current pecking order.

if it was up to me, no 'big' names, just go all out for Bale and Andy Caroll. Replace Jo and SWP. Wouldnt mind And if adebayor does go Madrid as few reports suggest, swap for Higuain (optimistic)

IMO we are still short of :
1. world class finisher to share the burden with Carlos
2. Scoring driving central midfielder
3. Another quality creative midfielder to partner Silva (a la Iniesta Xavi partnership)

Torres, kaka and sneijder.
Could all be available in Jan if not in the summer.
Now that would be nice
