Gvardiol was our best player last season by a country mile. He’s 6’1” which is just 1” smaller Stones, Dias and Akanji yet he’s much better in the air than Dias and Akanji with much better defensive aerial stats and he scores goals from set pieces aerially n’all, which is something Dias and Akanji never do.
He’s already on his way to being one of the best players in Europe. There weren’t many better U23s anywhere last season. The lad is going to be world class.
When Gvardiol and Dias were our CB pairing last season, our goals conceded per game was miles better than any other pairing.
And that bit about being ‘slow…with incredibly poor reaction speeds and lousy awareness’ is just nonsense.
