United appear to believe they can do the “anti-City of 2010” and lowball bids for big names because of who they think they are.

At least we were self-aware to understand we were not attractive at one price, but were at a significantly higher price!

United are under the delusion that because they’ve got a big name investor (no football club experience) and an old, once venerated name, they can literally steal players from other clubs at Ashton Market prices!

ESPN writes:
"United made an opening bid of £35m plus £8m in add-ons on Friday, which is set to be rejected. A source has told ESPN that Everton will need to compromise on their demands over a fee for a deal to happen."

The nerve of that club, Everton don't NEED to do anything. Rags now bidding what they bid for players a quarter of a century ago. Everton don't need to explain their rejection either stating that their using Gvardiol as a benchmark, when maguire was bought 5 years ago for that price. A player who they've been trying to shift multiple times.
Was it shrek ogden reporting by any chance?

The boy is keen to move over to the Rags. He might force a move eventually, but it will not happen at £35M.
Neves bid was at £51M and Jarrad's is at £35M, is Berrada trying to impress his employers by showing his "negotiation prowess" by low balling clubs for their best talents? I hope that backfires and they end up paying through their noses!

United low balling teams at the start of the window and then overpaying out of desperation at the end of the window is a tale as old as time. Didn't they originally refuse to pay like £50m for Antony before finally paying £82m? And Everton have seen it themselves before with how the Fellaini transfer panned out. Don't think United can fool anyone with that tactic, everyone knows they overpay in the end.

Ferdinand cost £30m about 25 years ago. A bid of £35m is laughable.
and they really overpaid, erm setting the market for what was to come, not that that will ever be reported by anybody any time soon.

Rags splashing the cash is for the good of the league.
RM splashing the cash got all the UK press giddy, the galacticos ffs
