You're right, and wrong!

Correct, he's club trained, which is fantastic for the club, and exactly what we need to continue to produce.

However he won't need to be registered for next years squad either, as he'll still be young enough to be exempt from the squad rules. The measure for if a player is young enough to not be required in the 25 man squad is if they are 20 as at 1st January of the year the season starts. So, for this coming season, the 2015/16 season, Denayer was 19 on the 1st January (his birthday is June). That means for next season, the 2016/17 season, Denayer will have been 20 as at 1st January, so still young enough to not be required in the 25 man squad. Lopes is the same, he's still 19 but turns 20 at the end of December, so will (just!) be 20 when the 1st January comes around. The first season either would need to be included within a 25 man squad, for either the Premier League or Europe, will be the 2017/18 season.
TBH if they're good enough now I'd rather we just didn't bother buying Sinclair's to fill out the squad. Waste of money.

Absolutely. People will say "but we've only named a 22 or 23 man squad, however that's ignoring the fact that we've got talented players outside of the official squad who can play a big role.

Raheem Sterling doesn't need to be added to the Premier League squad either, he was 20 as at 1st January, turns 21 in December though so as of next season he'd need to be registered. He'll need to be included in the Champion's League squad straight away though, as they stipulate the player must be 20 or younger as at 1st January AND have spent 2 years at the club, which Sterling obviously has not.

I guess we will again fullfil the 17 men-quota for the foreign players in our squad next season, and then the HGs who count: Hart, Clichy. That's a 19 squad, and Pellegrini normally counts with 22 players to make sure everyone has a replacement.

So the future HGs, who won't need to be registered, but will be involved in our first-team squad: Denayer, Sterling - I think both are nailed on members. That's now 21, and I would absolutely love if Lopes would be the 22th in Pellegrini's thinking. But, of course, maybe we'll just buy a HG player such as McCarthy, and loan out Lopes as it will hardly help his development if he can't make it into this magical 22-squad.

Celtic were playing Stjarnan in Iceland yesterday. I asked a Scot about Denayer and he said he was "brilliant" and "potentially world class".

Big season ahead of him. No more loans so it's up to the player to prove he is the one to be picked. One things looks certain that Denayer will be soon a automatic starter if he keeps developing this way.

We need to move this thread to the main forum now it has been confirmed he is a first team squad player

hmm, if Otamendi should come in, will we see Denayer go to the championship for a season and MDM drop to 4th choice centre half?

If the case it would be a waste of his considerable talent. I would think he would want to leave as he probably has only two years left in him and wouldn't want to spend them warming a bench.

i presume you're talking about MDM? if so, he'll be used a bit in defensive mid i predict this season, as a sub, and will still get games at centre half as we'll play minimum 50 games.
