Jason Denayer

I can fully understand his agent’s comments and I would expect him to be pissed off.
Last year we had 3 senior CB’s + Boyata. The net result was 3 CB’s is largely enough and Boyata got some token cup games.
This summer Denayer had come of the back of a great loan to Celtic where he was every bit as good as Van Dijk who has been touted as a c£8m target for various prem clubs. So Denayer is thinking I should be able to get a move to a lower level Prem team and play as first choice or I need some commitment from City that I will get game time.
City must have convinced him to stay and sign a new long term deal so there must have been a carrot or two dangled. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a get out clause based on what his agent has said but it’s more likely just what was agreed in principle.
I’d be gutted if we lost him. Best player we have produced since Micah.

It is business, and therefore should be carried out by the parties concerned and not via social media
Respectfully, I am not sure I can agree that's going to happen as agents and clubs (and players) have used the press to push their narratives for a long, long time. Social media is just the new form of press.

Anyway, my main point is it's just business and City's people are quite good at smoothing things over such as this. A loan to a good team with guaranteed playing time while healthy otherwise triggering an automatic recall will do the trick.

He'd have to be better than Micah to get in our team these days I'm afraid.

We won the league with a young Micah in the back 4. It didn’t pan out as we hoped for him mainly due to injuries but there was a point when he was the best young defender in the league and Denayer could easily follow a similar path to the early years of Micah at City. He’s already been SPL young player of the year and is now a full international for Belgium so you could argue he is ahead of where Micah was at the same age.

Young players of that ability don’t come round very often.

Fair enough

Nothing like being over dramatic is there?

i wouldn't say i was being over dramatic in the slightest, as far as we're aware he signed on the promise of no more defenders being bought, we've gone back on that. we have fucked him over, no two ways about it.

However don't mistake this for being upset at otamendis signing, if he's a better defender and will make us a better team I'm fully onboard and will support him, that still doesn't mean we ain't screwed Denayer abit. It's a shame sure, he's the first prospect we've had who looked like he could genuinely become quality, but the team will always come before any one player. These things happen in football.
